Position Details
Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts)Department of Music is looking to hire trained accompanists. Theaccompanist's responsibilities may include assisting withmasterclasses, accompanying the voice area through applied lessons,auditions, and juries, and accompanying a choir or the Opera.

Accompanists are expected to be thoughtful and proactive members ofthe Music community and have a desire to work with a diversestudent population in a collaborative, inclusive andlearning-centered collective.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide collaborative piano support in Opera Theatre, includingall rehearsals and performances.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environmentof respect, professionalism and civility with a population offaculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences,or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in collaborative piano or piano performance, orcommensurate experience in accompanying.

Experience accompanying applied lessons from beginner to advancedlevels

Experience accompanying in an academic setting
