HMP & YOI Bronzefield is the largest female prison in the UK and Europe, operating within a highly secure, regulated environment. The site supports a diverse population, including women on remand, varying sentence lengths, young offenders, foreign nationals, and mothers with babies, with a strong focus on rehabilitation and wellbeing.

This role sits within the Finance function, supporting the Head of Business Management in delivering an efficient, compliant, and high-performing financial operation across the prison. It requires a highly organised and detail-oriented individual who can operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the smooth running of financial processes that underpin critical services across the site.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to the overall performance and governance of the establishment.

Main Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day administrative support across the finance function

Manage core finance activities including accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and reporting

Maintain accurate, secure, and up-to-date financial records in line with policy and compliance requirements

Support audit and governance processes, ensuring adherence to financial controls

Assist with high-volume transaction processing using both manual and system-based methods

Respond to finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders

Work collaboratively across departments to support the smooth running of the prison

Ensure all tasks are completed accurately and within strict deadlines

Key Accountabilities

Financial Accuracy:

Maintaining reliable financial records, reconciliations, and data integrity

Compliance & Governance:

Adhering to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

Stakeholder Support:

Providing timely and accurate financial information and resolving queries

Confidentiality:

Managing sensitive financial and personal data with discretion

Operational Support:

Assisting the wider business in achieving financial and operational objectives

The Ideal Candidate

Strong administrative experience within a finance function

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Studying towards a professional accounting qualification or finance-related degree

Previous experience in a finance or administrative role

Experience working in a regulated or custodial environment
