Job Summary

The Associate Director, Marketing & Social Media at the Collegeof Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS) is an essentialposition for building the CEAS brand, supporting studentrecruitment, promoting research and innovation, and reaching keyaudiences across industry, academia, and government. This role isresponsible for developing and implementing modern integratedmarketing communications plans and will lead efforts around paidmarketing, social media, and content strategy. Success will comethrough positive collaboration and working cross-functionally withthe entire CEAS Marketing & Communications (Marcom) team. Thisposition consults regularly with stakeholders at the college,department, and program levels to execute campaigns and report onresults. Regular collaboration with the university’s Office ofStrategic Relations and Communications, the Research &Innovation Office, the Leeds School of Business and the College ofArts & Sciences will be important. The ideal candidate willbring a strong marketing acumen, a digital-first orientation,experience with the creative process, and excellent interpersonalskills. This position reports to the Senior Director for Marketing& Communications, has two direct reports, and is a member ofthe CEAS Marcom leadership team.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Strategic Marketing & Brand Management:

Participate in the development and execution of marketing andcommunications plans on behalf of the college, departments, andmajor programs.
Coordinate with the Sr. Director to ensure marketing effortsare aligned with college priorities and CU’s Integrated Marketing& Communications (IMC) Plan.
Collaborate with unit communicators, who serve as unit liaisonsand Marcom plan stewards, to execute strategies and report onresults.
Serve as the primary point of contact, where needed, foracademic or administrative units needing marketing support.
Contribute to and leverage messaging frameworks that deliverconsistent brand positioning and voice across paid, owned, andearned channels.
Leverage research and analytics—including primary research,secondary research, web analytics, Slate CRM data, social mediametrics, and more—to evaluate marketing effectiveness and developperformance reports for units.
Advertising:

Engage with external agency and internal stakeholders to planand execute paid advertising campaigns aimed at prospectivegraduate students.
Regularly attend agency meetings and partner with Sr. Directorand participating units on optimizations.
Leverage Slate CRM reports, and agency-provided dashboard, toevaluate campaign performance and provide strategic consultation toprogram leaders.
Lead ASEE First Bell newsletter paid advertising includingsetting and executing an annual plan that builds the college’sreputation and boosts rankings.
Author creative briefs and collaborate with the CEAS creativedirector to develop campaign assets.
Digital Marketing:

Lead expansive digital marketing opportunities includingwebsite strategy, SEO/AEO, email marketing, paid advertising, andsocial media.
Engage with the Graduate School and other campus experts toconfigure Slate reports for campaign analysis.
Collaborate with CEAS Graduate Education, EnrollmentManagement, Undergraduate Admissions, and the CU Graduate School onprospective student recruitment, lead nurturing, and emailmarketing campaigns through Slate CRM.
Analyze website and campaign performance using analytics toolsand recommend improvements.
Develop and optimize landing pages and digital content to improve engagement and conversions.
Social Media:

Develop and implement social media strategies that supportcollege positioning and facilitate reputation, recruitment andretention efforts.
Leverage direct reports to create, schedule, and publishcontent across all CEAS social platforms.
Develop best practice guides and provide training to facultyand units.
Coordinate graphic design, video production, and photographyassets with the CEAS Creative team.
Collaborate with colleagues at CU Strategic Relations &Communications to grow followers and boost the reach and impact ofcontent developed by both parties.
Monitor online sentiment and incorporate CU social listeningdata into daily work.
Establish and manage a comprehensive social media analytics andreporting program, including ongoing KPI monitoring, audience andcontent performance analysis, annual reporting, and recommendationsthat support college marketing, reputation, recruitment, andretention goals.
Manage student workers who assist with post development.
Supervisory & Other:

Manage a Marketing Content Strategist responsible fordeveloping and executing an integrated content strategy thatextends the reach and impact of the CEAS brand.
Manage and mentor a Marketing Operations & Project Managerwho drives large project execution and technology adoption withinCEAS Marcom.
Participate in weekly Marcom leadership and full team meetings;lead meetings when asked.
Pursue professional development opportunities to stay on top ofcurrent marketing trends and best practices.
What We Can Offer

Starting salary range is $95,000 - $100,000. Relocation assistanceis available within CEAS guidelines.

What We Require

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications,journalism, or a relevant field.
Three (3) or more years of increasingly responsible strategicmarketing and communications experience; preferably gained at amarketing company or advertising agency.
Three (3) or more years of proven experience as a strategicplanner, copywriter, content writer, or related role, with a strongportfolio of writing samples including digital, print, and socialmedia content.
Demonstrated experience managing people including settinggoals, supervising their work, and conducting performancereviews.
What You Will Need

Sound understanding of current best practices in marketing, andespecially digital and social marketing.
Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and communications strategyand successful execution of marketing and communicationscampaigns.
Knowledge of the creative process and experience workingside-by-side with graphic designers, web developers and otherMarcom disciplines.
Experience developing, executing and measuring marketingstrategies and campaigns with positive impact.
Demonstrated experience in professional-level advertising andmarketing copywriting.
Strong interpersonal, collaboration and persuasivecommunications skills to work effectively with cross-functionalteams and college stakeholders.
Independent problem solver that is willing to speak up,communicate clearly, and engage with others to resolve issuescreatively.
Ability to manage and analyze data; present numerical dataeffectively.
Accountable for meeting goals and objectives with minimaldirection.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills;familiarity with AP Style.
Good comfort level understanding and working with technicalinformation.
Knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, X,Reddit, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
Ability to work respectfully in a vibrant and diverseworkplace.
Robust organizational, prioritization and time-managementskills.
Capable of working independently and managing multiplepriorities simultaneously to meet deadlines.
Comfortable with project management software such asAsana.

What We Would Like You to Have

Master’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications,journalism, or a relevant field.
5-10 years of professional experience in marketing andcommunications roles; preferably at a marketing company oradvertising agency.
Demonstrated supervisory or management experience.
Two (2) or more years of experience working with a customerrelations management (CRM) system.
Experience working with a broad spectrum of media includingprint, digital, social, web, and other technologies.
Comfortable using software including Sprout Social, Semrush,Google Analytics, and Tableau.
Experience with A/B testing and data-drivendecision-making.
