Job TitleThe position is responsible for using the individual's creative skill to contribute to the layout of religious oriented customer orders. This includes designing, proofing and preparing orders for production. The incumbent will perform both simple and highly complex graphic design work, taking projects from concept to completion. Additionally, strong customer service, communication and technical skills are needed in order to work as part of the Diocesan Appeal Team, which oversees appeal work for Diocese across the country. Required to work under moderate supervision and has moderate latitude for using personal initiative and independent judgment.Essential Job FunctionsWork with a high level of teamwork to coordinate design projects with other members of the Appeal Team as well as customersEffectively communicate and coordinate work with other designers and individuals both inside and outside of the organizationReceive and make friendly professional customer calls either directly or as part of a conference callAbility to write professional emailsWork in conjunction with the Appeal Team, Design, Customer Service, Order Entry, Production and/or Sales to create and send 4, 2, and 1 color materials to in-house presses (outside vendors may be coordinated with based on project requirements)Assist in designing of both printed and digital materials for Diocesan Annual AppealsProvide input on improving and/or creation of new processesParticipate in initial and on-going meetings with Diocese to understand their design objectives, develop initial concepts and then apply consistent theme/branding across all facets of the Annual Appeal materialsMaintain projects within proposed timelines and production schedules to meet deadlinesAssist with other projects and tasks as neededAll other duties as assignedRequirementsExperience:Minimum of 3 years of work-related experience in a comparable field or equivalent mix of education and experience3-5 years of work experience in design, layout, color and correction as well as 4 color printing process preparation1-2 years of working with customers directly is preferredKnowledge of printing presses desirableEducation:Bachelor's degree in graphic design/arts or related discipline; commensurate education and work experience will be considered.Skills and Abilities:Proficient with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and AcrobatExperience with Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook recommendedA understanding of 1, 2 and 4-color print production work in a macOS based work environmentAbility to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with customers and internal departmentsUnderstanding of the Catholic Church and practices is highly desirablePrevious experience with Quadient Inspire Designer software is desirableArtistic Sensibility - Knowledge about design elements, such as color and composition, is vital for graphic designers as well as artistic ability and creativityTechnical Skill – This position requires a general interest in computers and an aptitude for learning new technology (As technology continues to develop, the incumbent will be required to keep up with new technologies in the graphic design and prepress fields.)Communication Ability - Sometimes known as visual communication, graphic design requires the ability to effectively present ideas—both verbally and visually (Incumbent need to be able to communicate your ideas to customers and internal departments to achieve the end results they require.)Organization – The incumbent needs to be organized in order to meet deadlines and stay within budgeted hours (General business organizational skills are required)Problem Solving Ability – The incumbent must possess strong problem-solving skills (Choosing just the right fonts, colors and lines to create a balanced composition, while simultaneously conveying meaning, is required.)Working EnvironmentIncumbent will work with the Appeals Team, Customer Service, Order Entry, Sales and Production on a daily basis (This may vary depending on the project.)Incumbent will be working in an office environment on a hybrid schedule with at least 3 days per week in the Huntington, Indiana office. This position is designed as a hybrid role, requiring on?site work in Huntington, Indiana three days per week.
