Primary Market Research (PMR) Technology Program Manager
New Jersey — Hybrid (may require occasional/Fortnightly travel)
Key Responsibilities
1. PMR Technology Program Leadership

Own the end-to-end technology program for an enterprise Primary Market Research Intelligence platform.

Lead program planning across discovery, solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, adoption, hypercare, and steady-state operations.

Establish program governance, milestones, dependencies, RAID management, KPIs, status reporting, and executive communications.

Coordinate cross-functional teams spanning PMR, MI/CI, commercial operations, technology, data, AI, security, vendors, and implementation partners.

Manage multiple workstreams and ensure alignment across business and technology stakeholders.

Develop and maintain the program roadmap, release plans, resource plans, and delivery priorities.

2. Pharmaceutical PMR & Market Research Expertise

Serve as a subject-matter-informed technology leader with a strong understanding of the pharmaceutical PMR lifecycle:

Understand how pharmaceutical organizations commission, manage, analyze, and socialize qualitative and quantitative primary research.

Partner with PMR teams to identify process inefficiencies, data fragmentation, knowledge gaps, and opportunities for automation.

Understand common PMR methodologies including ATU studies, HCP/HCP segment research, patient research, KOL research, concept testing, message testing, segmentation, conjoint, surveys, interviews, focus groups, and other qualitative/quantitative approaches.

Translate PMR business requirements into technology capabilities and user experiences.

Apply experience in Market Intelligence (MI) and Competitive Intelligence (CI) to complement PMR insights.

Understand how primary research can be combined with secondary research, competitive intelligence, market intelligence, and other commercial data sources.

Support capabilities that connect studies, brands, therapeutic areas, competitors, vendors, research questions, findings, and market events.

Identify opportunities to leverage PMR and MICI intelligence for brand strategy, forecasting, launch planning, competitive assessment, customer strategy, and commercial decision-making.

Lead implementation of an AI-powered PMR intelligence platform that transforms fragmented research assets into a centralized, searchable knowledge capability.

Drive adoption of AI capabilities including:

Natural-language search and Q&A

AI-powered research synthesis

Cross-study analysis

Temporal/wave-over-wave analysis

Automated metadata generation

Taxonomy and classification

Knowledge graphs

Automated insight extraction

Research summarization and socialization

Partner with AI/data engineering teams to ensure AI outputs are cited, traceable, explainable, and governed.

Help define appropriate use cases for AI agents across the PMR lifecycle.

Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and determine their applicability to PMR, MI, and CI workflows.

5. Data, Content & Knowledge Management

Oversee ingestion of PMR assets from multiple sources, including SharePoint, Teams, research vendors, file repositories, and other enterprise systems.

Ensure support for multimodal research assets including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, PDF, audio, video, charts, images, and raw research data.

Define requirements for metadata, taxonomy, ontology, search, classification, and information architecture.

Ensure research content can be connected across therapeutic area, brand, indication, vendor, methodology, geography, date, study, and research question.

Support development of a centralized system of record / intelligence layer for PMR.

6. Business Stakeholder & User Engagement

Act as the primary bridge between PMR business stakeholders and technology/AI delivery teams.

Conduct stakeholder workshops, discovery sessions, requirements gathering, prioritization, and user-journey mapping.

Translate business problems into actionable product and technology requirements.

Develop user personas and experiences for executives, PMR leaders, researchers, analysts, brand teams, and other consumers of market intelligence.

Drive stakeholder alignment and change management across a large pharmaceutical organization.

7. Governance, Security & Compliance

Ensure the platform and program adhere to pharmaceutical enterprise standards for security, privacy, access control, data governance, and compliance.

Partner with technology, security, legal, privacy, and IT teams on:

RBAC and access inheritance

PII and adverse-event redaction

Encryption

Audit trails

Governance and administration

Ensure appropriate governance for AI-generated insights and outputs.

Support integration with enterprise APIs and emerging AI interoperability frameworks where appropriate.

8. Implementation & Adoption

Establish MVP/first-value releases and progressively expand across regions, brands, and therapeutic areas.

Develop adoption strategies, training plans, communications, and stakeholder enablement.

Track adoption, utilization, value realization, and business outcomes.

Establish feedback loops to continuously improve the platform and user experience.

Manage relationships with technology providers, research vendors, implementation partners, and offshore/onshore delivery teams.

Establish clear responsibilities, SLAs, governance mechanisms, escalation paths, and delivery expectations.

Coordinate vendor onboarding and research submission processes.

Ensure continuity through knowledge transfer, documentation, backup resources, and operational readiness.

Oversee transition from implementation to steady-state operations.

Establish L1–L3 support models, SLAs, monitoring, incident management, patching, upgrades, and release management.

Drive continuous improvements based on user feedback, AI capabilities, platform performance, and evolving PMR needs.

Required Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Marketing, Market Research, or a related discipline.

Advanced degree/MBA is a plus.

Professional Experience

8+ years of program/project/product management experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or life sciences industry.

5+ years of experience working with pharmaceutical Primary Market Research (PMR).

Demonstrated experience with Market Intelligence and/or Competitive Intelligence (MI/CI/MICI).

Experience managing enterprise technology or digital transformation programs involving multiple business and technology stakeholders.

Experience implementing or managing data, analytics, knowledge management, AI, or enterprise content platforms.

Experience working with global pharmaceutical commercial, insights, market research, or strategy organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience building or implementing PMR, MI, CI, commercial insights, or knowledge-management platforms.

Experience with enterprise content repositories such as SharePoint, Teams, or similar platforms.

Experience with multimodal AI and unstructured data.

Experience integrating qualitative, quantitative, primary, and secondary research.

Experience with pharmaceutical brand strategy, launch planning, commercial analytics, or customer insights.

Experience managing global stakeholders and distributed onshore/offshore delivery teams.

Experience establishing QBRs, executive governance, steering committees, KPIs, SLAs, and operational models.

Familiarity with emerging AI interoperability and agentic technologies is a plus.
