The Marketing & Communications Student Worker supports Tulane Advancement Communications and Marketing by helping to create, schedule, and deliver engaging content across social media platforms. This role is a great fit for a student interested in digital marketing, communications, or content creation, and offers hands‑on experience managing content for a professional organization’s social media presence, tracking performance data, and covering live events.
Key Responsibilities
Content Production & Delivery
Produce and deliver original content (graphics, photos, videos, captions, and written copy) for Tulane Alumni social media channels, ensuring content aligns with brand voice and visual identity guidelines
Adapt content formats to fit each platform (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), optimizing for engagement and audience reach
Collaborate with Tulane Advancement Communications and Marketing to source stories, photos, and updates from alumni, students, and campus events
Content Strategy & Scheduling
Ideate creative and timely content concepts that highlight Tulane Alumni achievements, university milestones, and community engagement opportunities
Build and maintain a content calendar, scheduling posts in advance using social media management tools
Monitor upcoming events, holidays, and university initiatives to proactively plan relevant content
Analytics & Reporting
Track and compile monthly social media performance metrics (engagement, reach, follower growth, top-performing content, etc.)
Conduct research on social media trends, competitor/peer institution content, and best practices to inform content strategy
Deliver clear, organized reports and recommendations to the Alumni Relations team based on performance data
Event Live Coverage
Provide real‑time social media coverage of Tulane Alumni events (in-person and virtual), including photos, videos, stories, and live posts
Capture authentic, engaging moments that reflect the energy and community of alumni gatherings
Coordinate with event staff to identify key moments, speakers, and content opportunities during events
Qualifications
Current Tulane University student in good academic standing
Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
Familiarity with major social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut)
Experience with social media scheduling/management platforms is a plus (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Later)
Interest in marketing, communications, journalism, graphic design, or a related field
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate proactively with supervisors
Comfortable working occasional evenings or weekends for event coverage
