A Day in the Life of the VP of Marketing
This role owns the full marketing and communications strategy for the organization, from brand stewardship and integrated campaigns to digital growth, events, and fundraising partnerships. You'll report directly to the CEO, sit on the leadership team, and lead a team of six across digital marketing, social media, design, advertising, and community operations. Every campaign you build helps drive patient awareness, research participation, and community growth in the fight against blood cancer.
Responsibilities include:
Partnering with the CEO and leadership team to build and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy
Leading integrated, audience-focused campaigns across digital, social, email, website, PR, print, advertising, content, and events
Serving as steward of the brand, messaging, voice, and visual identity across every channel
Elevating the organization's visibility through patient stories, research milestones, and mission-driven storytelling
Managing advertising strategy and budget across Meta, Google, YouTube, and programmatic platforms
Overseeing marketing analytics infrastructure (GA4, Google Tag Manager, UTMs, pixels, conversion tracking)
Using data, analytics, and AI-enabled marketing tools to optimize campaigns and set KPIs
Leading marketing strategy for organizational events, educational programs, and community initiatives
Partnering with Development on integrated fundraising campaigns and donor storytelling
Building relationships with media, donors, researchers, and community partners
Managing vendor relationships and marketing operations, including budget effectiveness
Coaching, mentoring, and leading a team of six marketing professionals
Managing workflows and priorities across teams using Asana
Requirements and Qualifications:
7+ years of progressive marketing/communications leadership experience
Industry experience in healthcare, science, technology, or nonprofit
Proven track record building integrated marketing strategies across digital, social, email, web, PR, print, advertising, and content
Experience leading and developing marketing teams across specialized functions
Exceptional storytelling skills, written and visual, that inspire action
Strong experience partnering with fundraising, program, and research teams
Familiarity with data, analytics, and AI-enabled marketing tools; comfortable setting KPIs and reporting on performance
Working knowledge of GA4, Google Tag Manager, UTMs, pixels, and conversion tracking
Passion for the mission, with the ability to learn the ins and outs of blood cancer research
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field (advanced degree a plus)
Willingness and ability to travel to events and conferences
