Description:
Leading fashion company in New York City has an exciting opportunity for an organized and creative candidate Fashion Accessories Designer to join their team. This company leads the industry in manufacturing, licensing and distributing of fashion accessories, footwear, handbags, hosiery and intimate apparel.

In this role you will be responsible to develop multiple brands and private label collections in a growing and exciting environment, including handbags, SLGs, cosmetic and travel bags.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end design and product development process for fashion accessories and headwear, from concept and trend research through final production and delivery.

Research and interpret seasonal fashion trends, colors, materials, patterns, prints, silhouettes, and key market directions through market shopping, trend meetings, trade shows, and industry research.

Develop seasonal collections that are creative, commercially relevant, and aligned with brand identity and customer needs .

Create original product designs and identify opportunities to refresh, improve, and expand existing product assortments .

Collaborate with the Design Director and design team to develop seasonal concepts, mood boards, color palettes, material stories, prints, patterns, and graphic direction .

Develop print and pattern artwork, recolor existing artwork, and create color/material combinations as needed.

Partner with business leaders and Sales to understand customer and market needs and develop well-rounded, commercially viable collections by brand and account.

Prepare detailed sketches, tech packs, presentation boards, line sheets, sales materials, and other design documentation to communicate product concepts and specifications.

Prepare detailed tech packs for assigned accounts , ensuring product specifications, materials, dimensions, construction, artwork, and design details are clearly communicated.

Manage and track the full sample development cycle , including sample requests, status updates, revisions, approvals, and final execution.

Communicate daily with overseas factories and sourcing partners regarding product development, sample status, materials, construction, revisions, sourcing requests, and estimated completion dates.

Review pre-production (PPS) samples to ensure design direction, construction, materials, color, artwork, and overall product requirements have been met; communicate approvals and revisions to factories.

Take ownership of product corrections and revisions , ensuring updates are accurately executed and products remain on schedule through final delivery.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date style information, development details, line sheets, sample requests, and product updates within the PLM system .

Finalize adopted styles in PLM for production and ensure all product information is complete and accurate.

Prepare and submit seasonal approval packages to licensors , ensuring required approvals are obtained within established timelines.

Proactively track sample progress and follow up on outstanding development items, approvals, and production milestones to ensure deadlines are consistently achieved.

Collaborate closely with Design, Production, Sourcing, Sales, Licensing, and overseas teams to resolve product and development issues and ensure smooth execution from concept through production.

Prepare and present design presentations, collections, line sheets, and product concepts for internal teams, sales presentations, buyers, and customers.

Participate in sales meetings, buyer presentations, customer meetings, and market appointments , providing product knowledge and supporting the overall sales and presentation process.

Qualifications:

2+ years of related experience

Bachelor of Arts degree preferred

Existing knowledge of the retail marketplace

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, Microsoft Office Suite

Must have superior organizational skills
