Senior DirectorThe NBA currently provides eligible employees the option of working remotely one day per week.The Senior Engineering Lead leads the Broadcast Platform & Systems Support Engineering team, responsible for the reliability, support, and continuous evolution of the NBA's mission-critical broadcast platforms. The position provides technical leadership across video, audio, IP networking, signal distribution, intercom, and cloud-based production systems while driving operational excellence, engineering best practices, and long-term platform strategy.Major ResponsibilitiesLead the Broadcast Platform & Systems Support Engineering team, providing advanced technical support and escalation management across all broadcast systems.Provide technical leadership for critical incidents, driving root cause analysis, long-term corrective actions, and platform reliability improvements.Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure performance and reliability of master control and signal distribution services.Partner with Production & Broadcast Ops teams to evaluate and implement new production models, including cloud-based and remote workflows.Advise engineering leadership on system buildouts, and infrastructure upgrades, providing technical feedback and support to ensure scalable, resilient, and efficient solutions.Maintain and enhance the NBA's High-Speed Arena Network (HSAN) and other critical transmission infrastructure.Own the lifecycle, performance, reliability, and provide strategic guidance on the roadmap for the NBA's broadcast platform infrastructure.Mentor engineers and build a culture of technical excellence.Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule, providing emergency response and technical leadership during incidents.Required Education/Professional Experience10+ years of progressive experience in broadcast engineering or media technology, including leadership of technical teams.College degree in Communications/Engineering or related field required.Significant relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.Required Skills/Knowledge AttributesProven leadership experience managing Tier 2 or senior-level technical support teams.Strong background in broadcast engineering, including video routing, signal transport, and delivery infrastructure.Advanced knowledge of video compression, IP video transport, and Software Defined Video Networks.Familiarity with broadcast standards, especially SMPTE ST 2110 and related protocols.Experience with non-linear production systems such as EVS or equivalent.Strong vendor management skills, including SLAs, support coordination, and lifecycle planning.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.Salary Range: $180,000-$215,000The NBA is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace.
