Technical Writer IIWe are seeking a Technical Writer II for our client to create and revise complex technical documentation supporting the operation, repair, maintenance, and marketing of company products.Responsibilities:Create and revise product descriptions, detailed functional descriptions, operating procedures, fault-isolation procedures, maintenance and repair procedures, illustrated parts breakdowns, reports, proposals, marketing literature, and other technical documentation.Ensure documentation complies with customer requirements, government specifications, engineering standards, company standards, and language usage principles.Research systems and equipment and consult with engineering staff to create and revise accurate technical documentation.Analyze and interpret engineering drawings and other technical data and translate the information into clear documentation for nonengineers.Assist with validating written procedures for equipment.Evaluate illustrations and graphics and determine how to best use them within technical documentation.Request new illustrations or graphics and revisions to existing materials when necessary.Provide input regarding documentation format, style, project timelines, and cost estimates.Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, practices, and applications.Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all safety policies and objectives.Required Skills and Experience:Minimum of two years of experience using XML authoring tools, such as Arbortext Epic Editor or Oxygen.Minimum of two years of experience using Adobe Acrobat Professional PDF software for illustration markups or a similar electronic PDF markup tool.Minimum of two years of mechanical, electrical, or operator technical-writing experience or knowledge. Defense industry experience is preferred.Minimum of two years of Content Management System experience.Working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electronics, system operations, and publication software.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Microsoft Access experience is a plus.Ability to understand engineering designs and translate complex technical information into clear language for nonengineers.Ability to write technical documentation, participate in problem-solving discussions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide guidance, and meet project deadlines.Strong attention to detail, concentration, and command of the English language.Strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to interact directly with customers when required.Ability to work effectively with diverse teams across multiple locations.Familiarity with applicable military and commercial standards.Basic knowledge of interactive electronic technical manuals, development processes, and markup languages is preferred.Validation, verification, or on-vehicle experience is a plus.Certain positions may require specialized technical knowledge.Education:Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus two additional years of relevant experience.Benefits:Health Insurance401kPay Range: $40.00 - $44.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)By applying for this job, you agree to receive calls, AI-generated calls, text messages, or emails from HEPCO, Inc and its affiliates, and contracted partners.
