Program Coordinator

Position Summary: The Source LGBT+ Center’s Program Coordinator is responsible

for the implementation of support group, working with program participants, providing

education on trans issues, and engaging in planning and implementation of events. This

position reports to and is under the direction of the Program Manager and Director of

Programs.

Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with the Programs Department and staff to ensure

The Source carries out its mission, vision and strategic plan.

Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, event

committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders within the

program space.

Represent The Source in all internal and external affairs.

Program Implementation

Increase acceptance and social inclusion for transgender and gender variant

people in Tulare County by creating visibility, and centering those most

impacted.

Implement the Transcending Gender group.

Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agenda.

Evaluate and seek feedback from participants.

Increase participation and support for groups.

Help build positive relations within the team and external parties.

Implement Trans awareness and education.

Engage in tabling events to raise public awareness.

Create alliances and education with faith-based spaces, and/or

governmental agencies/departments training them on LGBTQ

inclusivity and safety.

Reach out to faith leaders to discuss transgender inclusivity.

Service Delivery

Carry out services for the Trans community to grow and thrive.

Increase access to chest binders through the Binder Program

Provide opportunities for an exchange closet to give folks an

opportunity to obtain clothing and accessories through the Trans

Closet.

Movement Building

Build a cross-sector, intersectional movement to increase awareness of

the most vulnerable to violence within the LGBT+ community to support a

reduction in violence for LGBT+ people living in the Central Valley of

California.

Develop relationships with partner organizations, businesses, and

individuals to build a trans friendly resource list.

Communications and Media

Utilize social media to spread awareness about Trans issues.

Special Events

Participate in organizational events as needed.

Lead educational events for the organization such as:

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Trans Day of Visibility

Qualifications:

The Trans Program Coordinator will be committed to The Source’s mission.

Specific requirements include:

Bachelor’s Degree in related study preferred.

Proven experience as a program coordinator or equivalent position.

Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.

Outstanding communication and people skills.

Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and

self-directed.
