The Art Director serves as the steward of MoFi’s visual brand and is our primary creative resource, helping shape how the organization’s stories, campaigns, and initiatives are brought to life through compelling communications and visual storytelling.

Working closely with a three-person Communications team and colleagues across MoFi, the Art Director develops fundraising collateral, advocacy materials, sales materials, presentations, and other creative assets that tell the stories of entrepreneurs working to overcome barriers, build businesses, and create opportunity for their families and communities across the West.

This role manages MoFi’s creative projects from concept through delivery, balancing intake, prioritization, and coordination across departments while developing the workflows, templates, and guidelines that improve efficiency and maintain a consistent visual brand.

Brand Stewardship

Serve as MoFi’s primary visual brand strategist to help define and evolve the organization’s visual identity across key channels and audiences.

Lead the creative concept behind MoFi’s biggest campaigns, initiatives, and publications, from the annual report to major fundraising and awareness efforts.

Build and maintain reusable templates and design systems, including decks, donor and sales collateral, and brand identity standards for staff use.

Maintain MoFi’s digital asset library, keeping it stocked with current, approved photography, video, and templates.

Direct photography and video vendors to ensure imagery and footage align with brand standards.

Creative Development and Storytelling

Direct the design of everything that carries our story to MoFi’s key audiences: donor and stewardship materials, banker and corporate partnership pieces, and advocacy materials for state and federal policymakers.

Guide MoFi’s new website through its final development stages, then take full ownership of its content and visual direction, keeping stories, pages, and imagery current and compelling.

Help shape MoFi’s social media strategy and content calendar.

Creative Operations

Build and manage a creative intake and prioritization process that brings structure to how requests come in and get sequenced across the organization.

Own vendor relationships for print, merchandise, and photo/video production, including quotes, contracts, production schedules, and securing usage rights for client photography and video.

Evaluate and adopt AI tools that strengthen creative production, and help MoFi establish clear organization-wide standards for their responsible use.

Qualifications

7+ years of graphic design experience, preferably with art direction experience and/or a strong interest in growing into an art direction role.

Strong visual design skills across both print and digital mediums.

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and familiarity with website content management systems.

Experience managing vendor relationships, including print, photography, video, or production partners, quotes, contracts, and schedules.

A genuine curiosity about AI and emerging tools, with a track record of bringing new capabilities into your creative process.

Strong professionalism and judgment when handling sensitive client stories and high-stakes external communications.

Background in photography or videography is a plus, though not required.
