Position Summary

A Japanese television broadcasting company is seeking a

TV News Producer

for its Washington, D.C. bureau.
This position supports the production of U.S. and international news for television broadcasting in Japan. The Producer will conduct research, gather and verify information, coordinate news coverage, and work closely with bureau reporters, producers, camera crews, and other team members.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct research and gather information for television news coverage, particularly related to U.S. politics, government affairs, international relations, and major breaking news.
Monitor current events and identify relevant information and developments for news coverage.
Research statements and information released by government officials, agencies, and other sources.
Perform fact-checking and information verification to ensure accuracy before broadcast or publication.
Support the production of television news programs through research, logistics coordination, filming support, and other production-related activities.
Assist reporters and bureau management with preparing background information and materials for news stories.
Communicate and coordinate with internal and external parties as necessary for news gathering and production.
Support interviews, field reporting, filming, and other on-location news coverage.
Work closely with the Washington, D.C. bureau team to meet daily news deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Participate in domestic and international business travel when required for major news events, including international summits and overseas trips involving senior U.S. government officials.
Provide support for breaking news and urgent coverage as part of a rotating team schedule.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
Qualifications

Expert-level English communication skills required.
Business-level Japanese communication skills required , including the ability to communicate effectively with Japanese-speaking colleagues.
Strong interest in

journalism, U.S. politics, international politics, and current affairs .
Strong research, fact-checking, and information-gathering skills.
Ability to understand complex information and summarize it clearly and accurately.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced news environment and respond to changing priorities.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to conduct field work and travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Positive, proactive, and flexible attitude.
Prior journalism, media, research, communications, or news-production experience is a plus, but not required.

Additional Information

Breaking news or urgent coverage may occasionally require flexibility outside regular working hours. Coverage is coordinated among team members on a rotating basis.
Domestic and international travel may be required depending on news assignments.
