Location: Sterling Heights, MI

Pay Rate: Up to $53.70/hour

Looking for a high-paying technical writing opportunity where your engineering knowledge and documentation expertise make an impact? We are seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to create and maintain complex technical documentation supporting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems. This position is ideal for experienced technical writers with a background in manufacturing, automotive, defense, or engineering environments.

Job Duties

Create, edit, and maintain technical manuals, procedures, repair instructions, parts documentation, and technical reports

Translate engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data into clear, user-friendly documentation

Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams to ensure document accuracy

Review and incorporate technical illustrations, graphics, and diagrams into documentation

Verify and validate procedures to ensure compliance with technical standards and customer requirements

Utilize XML authoring tools, content management systems (CMS), and publishing software to develop documentation

Ensure all documents meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience

2+ years of technical writing experience

Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or electronic systems

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Professional

Experience with XML authoring tools such as Arbortext Epic Editor or Oxygen preferred

Automotive or defense industry experience strongly preferred

Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
