Black Bear is seeking a Vice President, Digital Marketing to lead digital strategy across our theatrical film campaigns and help shape how our films connect with audiences online.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, the VP of Digital Marketing will oversee the development and execution of digital campaigns across social media, creators and influencers, original content production, digital stunts and activations, partnerships, and emerging platforms. This person will work closely with Creative Advertising, Media, Publicity, Research, and external partners to build integrated campaigns that are distinctive to each film and responsive to how audiences discover, discuss, and engage with entertainment today.
Key Responsibilities

Lead digital strategy across Black Bear’s theatrical slate, developing bespoke approaches based on each film’s audience, positioning, creative voice, and release strategy.
Develop integrated campaign plans spanning social, creators, content, partnerships, activations, community, and paid amplification.
Identify the platforms, communities, creators, cultural conversations, and behaviors most relevant to each title.
Partner with Creative Advertising, Media, Publicity, and Research to ensure digital is integrated across the broader campaign.
Establish campaign KPIs and continually evaluate performance and opportunities for optimization.

Social Media & Content

Oversee title-specific social strategy, voice, content, editorial planning, and community engagement across major and emerging platforms.
Develop platform-native creative that feels culturally relevant while remaining true to each film’s positioning.
Lead original content development and production, including talent shoots, EPKs, social capture, junket content, and other campaign-specific content.
Develop talent concepts and formats that go beyond traditional promotional content and feel native to digital platforms.
Identify real-time opportunities around talent, fandom, cultural moments, audience reactions, and emerging trends.
Manage external production companies, agencies, creators, and vendors as needed.

Creators, Stunts & Partnerships

Lead creator and influencer strategy across the slate, building programs that extend beyond traditional paid posts and authentically engage relevant communities.
Conceive and execute digital stunts, fan activations, interactive experiences, and cultural moments designed to drive conversation, participation, and earned attention.
Develop relationships with creators, agencies, digital platforms, and emerging voices across entertainment and culture.
Identify platform partnerships, first-to-market opportunities, new technologies, and unconventional ideas that can help Black Bear’s films break through.
Partner with Publicity around talent access, screenings, premieres, junkets, and experiential opportunities.

Performance & Optimization

Work with Media, Research, and agency partners to understand campaign performance across platforms and audiences.
Use data and audience insights to inform creative, targeting, content strategy, and campaign optimization.
Translate performance data into clear, actionable recommendations and establish learnings across campaigns.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in digital, social, or entertainment marketing, with meaningful experience leading theatrical film or entertainment campaigns.
Deep understanding of social platforms, creator ecosystems, online communities, internet culture, and evolving audience behavior.
Proven ability to translate campaign positioning and audience insights into compelling digital strategy and creative.
Experience producing talent shoots, social content, EPKs, digital activations, and creator programs.
Strong understanding of paid and organic social and how they work together within an integrated campaign.
Strong creative judgment and ability to interpret performance data and translate insights into action.
Excellent leadership, communication, production, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple campaigns and priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Genuine passion for film, entertainment, and finding new ways to connect audiences with stories.

Salary Range:
180-300K
The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
