INTERNAL CANDIDATE EXISTS

Act as Music Director for musical productions produced by the Theatre & Dance Department. In collaboration with Director, oversee all voice and music aspects of the production.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Pre-Production and Planning

Meet with the director and choreographer to plan the artistic vision.

Study and analyze the score and script.

Help plan the rehearsal schedule.

Identify musicians and rehearsal pianist.

Auditions and Casting

Test vocal ranges and judge the skill of actors.

Advise the director on who fits each singing role.

Rehearsals

Teach songs, harmonies, and vocal parts to the cast.

Lead vocal warm-ups and build healthy singing habits.

Rehearse the instrumental band or orchestra.

Collaborate with the sound designer regarding microphones and volume.

Performances

Conduct the orchestra or play keyboard/piano from the pit.

Maintain the tempo, dynamics, and overall musical quality of the show.

Lead quick pre-show vocal warm-ups for the actors.

Requirements:
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience

Prior Music Director experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to play piano.

Compensation Pay Range:
$30 /hour
