We're looking to add a Director, Business Development Strategy to our Business Development team. The Director, Business Development Strategy plays a leadership role in HWP's new business efforts by owning and advancing a meaningful portion of the sales pipeline. This role is focused on driving both existing-client expansion and new-client opportunities, with responsibility for prospecting, opportunity development, qualification, pursuit strategy, and progressing deals through close. Operating under the direction of the EVP, Business Development & Growth Strategy, the Director independently leads assigned opportunities, plays a central role in pitches and proposals, and partners with senior leaders across the organization to develop solutions for prospective clients. The Director is accountable for achieving a defined individual sales target tied to HWP's overall growth goals and contributes to the development and execution of broader new business strategy .

What You'll Do

New Business Strategy & PipelineOwnership

Own a definedportionof the new business pipeline

Execute against assigned sales and pipeline targets

Lead opportunities from qualification through close

Develop pursuit strategies for priority opportunities.

Identifyopportunities to expand existing client relationships

Apply the HWP sales playbook consistently

Prospecting & Opportunity Development

Proactively identify and pursue qualified prospects while building relationships with key decision-makers

Lead discovery conversations to understand client needs and identify opportunities

Maintain disciplined follow-up to advance opportunitiesthrough the pipeline

Maintainaccuratepipeline and opportunity trackingvia the CRM

Pitch &Proposal Leadership

Lead assigned pitches, proposals, and RFP responses, coordinating internal contributors and subject matter experts

Ensuretimely, high-quality new business submissions

Play an active role in client-facing presentations

Lead follow-up activities after pitches and proposals

Commercial Alignment & Handoff

Partner with internal teams to develop scopes, budgets, and commercial approaches, and support commercial discussions through close

Ensure deal terms and commitments are clearly documented

Lead a smooth handoff of won business to internal execution teams, maintaining continuity through kickoff

Performance & Accountability

Track progress against individual sales and pipeline goals and maintain accurate pipeline forecasts

Identify risks, stalled opportunities, and pipeline gaps, providing regular updates to senior growth leadership

Recommend improvements to new business processes

Supportdevelopmentof junior team members

What You'll Have

Experience independently leading new business pursuits in an agency or professional services environment

Experience in medical communications required

Demonstrated experience managing sales pipelines, data, and forecasts

Proven ability to identify, qualify, prioritize, and advance new business opportunities

Experience in carrying and delivering against a sales target

Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills

Experience leading pitches, proposals, and RFP responses, with strong presentation and storytelling skills

Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and work effectively across disciplines

Strong commercial mindset with an understanding of scoping, pricing, and agency growth objectives

Strong prospecting and relationship-building skills

Highly organized, proactive, and accountable, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously

Experience mentoring or developing junior team members preferred

Salary range: $110,000 - $125,000 + commission. Note: Actual salary will depend on background and experience.
