Position Summary
Fosun Pharma USA is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to lead licensing and out-licensing activities across the US portfolio for Innovation Business portfolio. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic transactions — in-licensing innovative assets to strengthen the pipeline and out-licensing existing assets to maximize their commercial value. The successful candidate will work closely with global R&D, commercial, legal, and executive leadership to shape Fosun's business development strategy in the US market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end business development process for licensing and out-licensing transactions, including target identification, due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation, and closing.
- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for in-licensing opportunities that align with Fosun's therapeutic area priorities and portfolio gaps.
- Identify and evaluate out-licensing opportunities for existing or de-prioritized assets to maximize their value.
- Build and maintain relationships with biotech, pharma, and academic partners to source and evaluate potential deals.
- Lead cross-functional deal teams spanning R&D, medical, legal, finance, and commercial functions to assess scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial merit of opportunities.
- Prepare and present investment recommendations, deal terms, and valuation analyses to senior leadership and governance committees.
- Structure and negotiate term sheets, licensing agreements, and other transaction documents in partnership with legal counsel.
- Collaborate closely with Fosun global headquarters and international affiliates to align US business development strategy with broader corporate objectives.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging science to proactively identify opportunities.
- Represent Fosun Pharma USA at industry conferences and partnering events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PhD, MD, or JD) strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in business development, licensing, or corporate development within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Demonstrated track record of leading and closing licensing, out-licensing, or M&A transactions.
- Strong understanding of drug development, regulatory pathways, and commercial dynamics across therapeutic areas.
- Excellent negotiation, deal structuring, and financial analysis skills.
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels, including senior executives and external partners.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to executive leadership and governance bodies.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
- Experience working within a global or multinational pharmaceutical organization is a plus.
