  • Transform video scripts and raw assets into polished final productions across both long-form and short-form formats.
  • Edit news packages, podcast shows, digital series, and documentary-style projects.
  • Apply graphics packages, MOGRTs, Adobe templates, and other Law&Crime-branded creative assets.
  • Provide editing coverage for other members of the team as needed.
  • Deliver high-quality work on fast turnaround schedules while consistently meeting deadlines.

Editorial & Brand Standards

  • Ensure content aligns with Law&Crime’s editorial standards, practices, and brand guidelines.
  • Follow YouTube monetization requirements, editorial standards, and online safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with social, editorial, production, and other internal teams to ensure content meets creative and strategic objectives.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current on YouTube and social media editing best practices, audience trends, and emerging content formats.
  • Research developments in digital media, technology, news, and storytelling that can strengthen Law&Crime’s content.
  • Identify creative approaches that help Law&Crime and its streaming offerings remain competitive and true to the company’s mission.
  • Contribute ideas for improving editing workflows, production efficiency, and the overall viewer experience.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional video editing or related production experience.
  • Demonstrated experience editing video content for YouTube and social media.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines.
  • Strong editorial judgment, creativity, and ability to work independently.
  • Experience editing long-form, documentary-style content.
  • Proficiency with professional video and graphics editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve, and/or Avid.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and works proactively with minimal oversight.
  • Reliable internet connection and ability to work effectively in a remote editing environment.
  • Experience in news, journalism, legal media, or true crime is preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Film, Journalism, Production, or a related field preferred but not required.

What Success Looks Like

  • Consistently delivering polished, engaging video content on deadline.
  • Producing long-form and short-form content that is optimized for YouTube and social audiences.
  • Applying strong editorial judgment while maintaining Law&Crime’s brand and editorial standards.
  • Collaborating effectively with social, editorial, and production teams.
