North Carolina Contract Editor

Supporting a statewide newsroom, the part-time Contract Editor will edit features and newsletter content, collaborating with reporters to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to AP Style in a fully remote role.
Key responsibilities

Edit and fact-check stories for clarity, accuracy, and narrative structure
Provide substantive edits and copyedits in accordance with AP Style
Collaborate closely with reporters to enhance the quality of content

Required qualifications

Experience in editing features and newsletter content
Strong understanding of AP Style guidelines
Ability to work approximately eight hours per week with flexible scheduling
Familiarity with local community reporting and its significance
Remote work capability from anywhere in North Carolina
