About the Marketing, Communications, and Content Team
The Marketing, Communications, and Content team at Welcome.US shapes how the welcoming movement shows up in the world. We lead the strategy and execution of storytelling, brand and campaign marketing, public engagement, digital communications, and executive and organizational messaging—ensuring our work reaches, inspires, and mobilizes millions of Americans across communities, sectors, and political lines.
This team sits at the intersection of content and communications and marketing and growth. On the content and communications side, we develop powerful narratives, messaging frameworks, executive communications, and media strategies that elevate newcomer and Welcomer stories, define our voice, and advance cultural and policy change. On the marketing side, we design and run integrated campaigns, digital and lifecycle marketing, mobilization efforts, and tentpole moments that drive awareness, participation, and sustained engagement in the welcoming movement.
Working closely with program, partnerships, and external stakeholders, the team supports major announcements, national moments, and large-scale mobilization campaigns; builds and manages digital channels and platforms; and creates compelling content that moves people from awareness to action. Through strategic marketing, communications, and content, Welcome.US expands the welcoming movement—encouraging individuals and organizations to show up for newcomers and aspiring Americans by helping communities across the country build the capacity to welcome, together.
Job requirements: Social Media and Digital Content Strategist
This role will lead day-to-day social media strategy and content development, with a focus on expanding the organization’s digital audience and increasing engagement. This is a hands-on role that combines social media, short-form video production, and web content development, using audience insights and performance data to inform decisions and identify new opportunities for growth. The Strategist will develop and execute social content across platforms, produce and coordinate social-first video, and write and optimize digital content that can be amplified through social channels.
Reporting to the Senior Managing Editor, the Strategist will be responsible for the following:
Key Responsibilities
Social media and audience growth
- Develop and manage Welcome.US’s social media editorial calendar and content strategy
- Create platform-specific content designed to increase reach, engagement, and audience growth
- Monitor social media performance and audience insights, translating data into actionable recommendations
- Test new content formats, messaging, creative approaches, and distribution strategies
- Identify emerging trends, in-platform tools, and opportunities to reach new audiences
- Develop recurring content series and other scalable approaches to audience growth
- Collaborate with internal teams and partners to identify stories and moments with strong social potential
Video and multimedia
- Produce short-form, social-first video and other multimedia content for social platforms
- Develop concepts, interview questions, scripts, and storyboards as needed
- Coordinate and/or conduct interviews, filming, editing, captioning, and asset preparation
- Repurpose longer-form content into social-first video and multimedia assets
- Use performance data to refine video formats, creative approaches, and storytelling techniques
Web and editorial content
- Plan and produce web content, including partner features, resource pages, explainers, and other editorial content
- Develop web content with social amplification and audience engagement in mind
- Identify opportunities to repurpose web content across social channels
- Maintain Welcome.US’s voice, editorial standards, and brand across digital content
- Collaborate with editorial and program teams to develop timely, audience-centered stories
Growth and performance
- Use data and experimentation to continuously improve digital communications
- Track relevant KPIs, evaluate content performance, identify patterns and opportunities, and develop new approaches for growing reach and engagement
- Provide regular reporting and actionable social media insights to inform MarComms strategy and organizational decision-making.
Other
- Support department- and organization-wide projects as assigned
- Maintain organized, accurate electronic records and documentation
- Participate in cross-departmental initiatives as needed
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Required skills and experience
- 3–6 years experience in social media, digital communications, marketing, journalism, or related focus
- Strong understanding of major social media platforms, social media management, and analytics tools
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in fast-moving environments.
- Familiarity with content development workflows
- Familiarity with digital platforms that include or are similar to Google Suite, Slack, Canva, Airtable, and Zoom
- Familiarity with AI tools to support content development and streamline workflow automation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including through social media platforms, written narratives, script writing, and presentations
- Ability to adjust content to meet the needs of varying audiences, channels, and appeals
- Ability to independently plan, prioritize, and manage projects
- Experience and desire to work remotely, across time zones, and with a remote supervisor.
- Interest in building a welcoming America for all newcomers

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $70,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience. Welcome.US offers 20 days of paid time off, plus a winter break between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, health insurance, a 6% retirement contribution, and 12 paid federal holidays.
