Sledge is early and founder-led, growing its social presence from scratch, so the person in this role sets the tone for how the world sees Sledge day to day.
About the role
Sledge is hiring a Social Media Specialist to be the strategist behind Sledge's social presence: what gets posted, on which platform, and why. This role works closely with the Marketing Coordinator to fit social strategy into the bigger marketing picture, and focuses specifically on the ins and outs of social media itself.Sledge wants someone who has actually grown something before, not just managed an existing account. You've cultivated a following, grown it, and expanded it through real campaign strategy. You've created content yourself in the past, so you know what it actually takes, even though this role is about strategy and direction, not production. You live deep in the weeds of social media: the algorithms, the trends, the timing, and the tactics that actually move a following.
What you'll do
Strategy and growth
Set Sledge's social media strategy across every platform: what to post, where, and why
Build and run campaigns specifically designed to grow Sledge's following and engagement
Work closely with the Marketing Coordinator to fit social strategy into the bigger marketing picture
Track what's working on each platform and adjust the strategy accordingly
Report on growth, engagement, and what's actually resonating
Planning and direction
Set the content calendar and posting schedule across every platform
Direct the Graphic Designer, Copywriter, and Video Editor on what content to create and why
Review and critique content before it goes out, and push it to be sharper
Set up and maintain the social media infrastructure: the tools, processes, and systems that make posting and tracking easier
Manage the people who help create social content, whether that's the Graphic Designer, Copywriter, Video Editor, or others down the line
Jump on trends and formats fast, before they're stale
Community
Reply to comments, DMs, and mentions like a real person, not a brand account
Build genuine relationships with contractors and followers in Sledge's community
What success looks like
In your first 90 days, Sledge will have a real social strategy in place and at least one growth campaign running. Within a year, Sledge's following will have grown in a way you can point to and explain, not just accumulated.
What we're looking for
Must-haves
Required: a track record of cultivating a following from scratch, for yourself or a brand
Required: a track record of growing that following meaningfully over time
Required: experience expanding a following through real campaign strategy, not just organic posting

Comfortable giving direct, specific feedback on content and pushing it to be better
Experience setting up social media tools, processes, or systems from scratch
Comfortable managing or directing the people who create content, not just reviewing it after the fact
Deep, current knowledge of how social platforms actually work: algorithms, trends, timing, and tactics
A portfolio or examples of the following you built and the numbers behind it
Comfortable working closely with a Marketing Coordinator or manager, not operating solo
Comfortable moving at startup speed, taking a brief and running with it
Nice-to-haves
Bonus: able to create social content yourself, not just direct others who do
Comfortable being on camera for behind-the-scenes or personality-driven content
Experience with paid social advertising or influencer partnerships
Interest or experience in construction, trades, or B2B software
Experience with social scheduling tools such as Later, Buffer, or Sprout Social
Perks and benefits
Fully remote, work from anywhere in the world
Flexible hours, work when you're most productive

Real ownership over Sledge's voice across every platform
Your work reaches people the same day you post it, no approval chain
