Part-time, about 25 hours a week | $20 to $25 per hour, W-2 | Path to full-time | Hiring immediately
This is a video-first role. Filming and editing short-form video is the core of the job. It is not a remote, writing, or marketing strategy position.
Shoreline Happy Paws has been trusted by local families since 2010. Our trained team walks and hikes dogs every week, and we want our neighbors to see the care behind every visit. That is your job: part dog walking, part filming and editing video that tells our story.
Connecticut Shoreline area: Old Saybrook, Essex, Ivoryton, Centerbrook, Westbrook, Clinton, Madison, Old Lyme, Lyme, Deep River, Chester, Killingworth, East Lyme, Niantic.
A typical day:
2 to 3 hours walking and hiking dogs, then about 2 hours filming, editing, and posting.
What You'll Do
Film and edit 3 short videos a week for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook
Direct the team on the clips you need, and edit their footage along with your own
Walk and hike a regular group of dogs each week, with full training
Take photos, design carousels in Canva, and post daily Stories
Write captions in our warm, helpful voice
Share our Founder's weekly blog across our platforms
Capture behind-the-scenes moments with the team and at community events
Track results and share a short monthly report on what is working
Video Skills You Need
You hook viewers in the first few seconds and keep them watching
You know transitions and how to time them to the beat and the story
You use on-screen text and captions well: readable, well placed, and well timed
You follow current reel trends and know which ones fit a brand and which don't
You edit comfortably in CapCut, Instagram Edits, or similar
Non-negotiables
You have short-form videos you filmed and edited yourself, and you can show them to us. Writing, photography, or design experience alone is not enough for this role
You show up and you communicate. On time, responsive, and a clear yes or no
Dogs come first. Safety always wins over getting the shot
You are comfortable on camera
Everything you make is real. Our content is 100% organic. No AI-written captions, no AI-generated images, no em dashes
You give and receive feedback openly, and you ask questions when something is unclear
You protect our clients' privacy. Nothing identifiable about their homes ever appears in a post
You own it. Once trained, the calendar runs without reminders
Schedule
Monday through Friday, generally 8am to 1pm or 9am to 2pm
Occasional evening or weekend events, 1 to 2 hours, with advance notice
