We’re looking for a Social Media Intern who lives on social media, has a great eye for content, and can move quickly from an idea to a finished post.
This role will report to and work closely with the Marketing Manager and Social Media Coordinator.
The Role The Social Media Intern will help create and manage content across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, with a strong focus on short-form video. This is a hands-on role: you’ll visit different Pavement locations across Boston and Cambridge to capture content, edit videos, write copy, research trends, and help keep our social channels fresh and relevant.
You should be someone who naturally notices what’s trending, understands why certain content works, and can turn a trend into something that feels like Pavement.
What You’ll Do Visit Pavement cafés across Boston, Cambridge and Medford to capture photo and video content for Instagram (Reels, stories, posts) and TikTok (video).
Create and edit approximately 5 pieces of short-form video content per week, including Reels and TikToks, as well as Stories and static posts, with a strong eye for visual quality.
Stay on top of trending sounds, formats, hashtags, creators, and social media trends, and proactively pitch ideas and quick-turnaround opportunities.
Write engaging, brand-appropriate captions and social copy.
Plan and schedule content using HeyOrca and help maintain the social media calendar.
Research relevant Boston/Cambridge influencers and creators and help identify partnership opportunities.
Ensure all content aligns with Pavement’s brand voice and visual identity.
What We’re Looking For Strong understanding of Instagram and TikTok and what makes content perform.
Strong video editing and photography skills, with the ability to work quickly.
Familiarity with CapCut, Canva, Photoshop, or similar tools.
Strong writing skills and a good understanding of brand voice.
Creative, proactive, organized, and comfortable pitching new ideas.
Good eye for visual storytelling, composition, and photo editing.
Comfortable shooting content on a phone and working independently in cafés.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with the marketing team.
Ability to commute between Pavement locations across Boston and Cambridge.
Someone that can work and record videos before the stores close (ideally before 5 pm)
The Ideal Person You’re fast, creative and have a good eye. You know what’s trending before everyone else does. You can walk into a café and immediately see five pieces of content worth capturing.
You’re not afraid to pull out your phone, get the shot, edit it, write the caption, and send it to the team. You’re also able to recognize when a trend doesn't fit the brand and come up with something better.
Most importantly, you’re someone who brings ideas to the table and makes things happen.
