Basketball Videographer & Photographer Intern
Position Type: Internship / Part-Time Schedule: Primarily weekends, with additional hours as needed during the week Location: Hybrid: On-site at basketball events and tournaments, remote Compensation: Hourly, $25/hr
About the Role
We are looking for a Basketball Videographer & Photographer Intern to join our marketing and content team and help capture the energy, competition, and talent at our basketball events. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who lives and breathes basketball, understands the game, and has a strong eye for content. You'll be responsible for capturing high-quality photos and/or video, creating quick-turnaround edits, and helping publish content across our social media channels throughout the weekend. Over time, we expect this person to learn the players, recognize emerging talent, understand who the elite players are, and make smart decisions about which athletes and moments deserve additional coverage.
Responsibilities
Photograph and/or film games, players, coaches, and events throughout weekend tournaments
Capture both action and behind-the-scenes content for social media
Produce quick-turnaround photo and video edits during events (publishing content every hour)
Create short-form content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other social platforms
Mic up players or coaches to get behind the scene content
Help post and publish content throughout the weekend rather than waiting until after the event
Identify key moments during games that should be captured and shared (championship games, game winners, etc)
Recognize elite players, standout performances, and emerging talent and prioritize coverage accordingly
Work closely with the ops and marketing team to determine what content should be posted
Follow a play by play social outline for the weekend
Organize and manage photo/video files efficiently
Help build a consistent visual style and social presence for our basketball events
Be available to move quickly between courts and games and adapt to a fast-paced event environment
What We're Looking For
Strong interest in basketball and a solid understanding of the game
Photography and/or videography experience, preferably sports-related
Experience shooting with a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or professional-quality mobile setup
Experience with quick video editing and short-form content
Familiarity with editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar
General understanding of social media platforms, trends, and what types of content perform well
Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other social platforms
Understanding of basic social media best practices, including captions, hashtags, tagging, hooks, posting times, and audience engagement
Ability to recognize content that has strong social potential and make recommendations on what should be posted
Comfort creating content specifically for vertical/social-first formats
Awareness of current social media trends, formats, sounds, and styles, particularly within sports and basketball content
Ability to adjust content based on what is performing well and what resonates with the audience
Comfort using social media platforms to post, edit, caption, tag, and publish content during live events
Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in a live-event environment
Strong attention to detail and an eye for compelling basketball moments
Reliable, organized, energetic, and comfortable working long weekend event days
Willingness to learn players, teams, rankings, and storylines within the basketball community
Basketball IQ Is Important
We want someone who can eventually walk into a gym and understand where the story is. You should be interested in learning:
Who the best players are
Which players are emerging
Which games and matchups matter most
What makes a play or performance special
Which players deserve additional photo/video coverage
How to capture different positions, playing styles, and personalities
How to turn a great basketball moment into compelling social content
What Success Looks Like
By the end of the internship, you'll be someone we can trust to walk into a basketball event, identify the players and moments that matter, capture great content, quickly turn that content into social-ready posts, and help keep our channels active throughout the weekend. This internship can potentially lead to a part time or full time position.
To Apply
Please submit:
Resume or brief background of photo and/or video as well as basketball knowledge
Examples of photography and/or video work
Social media accounts or portfolio, if applicable
A brief explanation of your basketball background and why you're interested in the position
