Position Overview
The Director, Commercial Promotion Strategy & Analytics is a high‑impact leadership role responsible for governing, evaluating, and optimizing multi‑million‑dollar promotional investments across all carrier partner accounts (e.g., T‑Mobile, Verizon, AT&T).
Acting as the strategic Product Manager and commercial authority for promotional programs, this leader bridges the gap between deep financial analytics, carrier account sales teams, and Go‑To‑Market (GTM) execution. The role requires rigorous data analysis‑dissecting invoice‑level data, carrier subsidy splits, sell‑out lift elasticities, and complex promotion structures (such as tiered trade‑in matrices and premium rate‑plan restrictions)‑to establish actionable promotion guidelines.
The ideal candidate ensures every promotional dollar invested drives incremental sell‑out volume, protects brand equity, and aligns seamlessly with retail enablement and integrated marketing KPIs.
Role and Responsibilities
Strategic Promotional Governance & Commercial Guidance
- Serve as the central PM authority defining overarching promotional guidelines, investment thresholds, and ROI guardrails for all carrier account teams
- Partner with Account Sales Leads to evaluate proposed carrier roadmaps, challenge assumptions, and provide data‑backed recommendations on promotional construct and timing
- Establish standard evaluation frameworks to guide sales teams on when and how to deploy funding (e.g., launch windows, mid‑lifecycle sustainment, holiday/Q4 peak, competitive response)
Deep Invoice & Promotional Analytics
- Conduct granular, multi‑layered analysis of historical invoice claims, carrier billings, sell‑in/sell‑out velocity, and channel inventory to audit promotional efficiency
- Deconstruct Samsung vs. Carrier promotional cost‑sharing ("promo split") across distinct funding buckets
- Model scenario‑based sell‑out lift and revenue impact: quantify the elasticity and trade‑offs of shifting dollars across promotional mechanisms (e.g., moving $100 from rate‑plan tied bill credits to upfront trade‑in subsidy)
- Unpack complex carrier promotional architectures-specifically carrier plan restrictions (e.g., top‑tier unlimited plans) and trade‑in tiering‑to measure true consumer accessibility and conversion impact
GTM, Marketing & Retail Alignment
- Lead commercial alignment within the broader cross‑functional GTM engine, synchronizing promotional timing with national ATL/BTL marketing campaigns, brand launches, and retail merchandising initiatives
- CollaboratewithRetailOperationsandFieldSalestomeasurehowpromotional offers translateintofield execution, carrierstore associate mindshareandpoint‑of‑sale conversion
