Vice President, Brand and Public Relations
Marketing and Brand Communications—St. Louis,MODallas,TXPhoenix,Arizona
POSITION SUMMARY
This is an architect-and-operator role focused on structure, scale, unification, and vendor management. It owns the agency ecosystem and the future of agency work; it does not own crisis communications, which sits with the Director, Public Relations.
- Own the enterprise McCarthy story and voice — the single, differentiated narrative McCarthy carries into the market.
- Tie the regions together into one unified PR strategy that preserves local relevance while improving enterprise consistency, governance, and scale.
- Assess and manage the PR agency ecosystem — audit relationships, scopes, contracts, and spend; manage inter-agency relationships; and define the future of agency work, including FleishmanHillard as primary AOR and the regional roster.
- Develop a cost-savings and operating-model proposal, and build governance, intake, workflows, and measurement.
- Own the integrated enterprise PR plan (e.g., the Q4 plan) aligned to campaigns, executives, regions, and milestones.
- Build enterprise systems: media list aggregation, go-to-market toolkits, the speakers bureau operating model, and external-leader amplification.
- Partner with the Director, Public Relations on executive visibility and thought leadership, and with brand, digital, social, events, and business leaders across the enterprise.
What success looks like
- McCarthy has a clearer, more consistent external voice and one unified, enterprise-aligned PR strategy.
- The agency ecosystem is simpler, higher-performing, and more cost-effective, with clear governance.
- PR is less fragmented and more strategically led, with measurement and visibility at the enterprise level.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minium 12+ years of progressive PR and communications experience, including enterprise strategy and agency management.
- Experience leading in a decentralized/matrixed environment strongly preferred.
