Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Schoolhouse of Wonder · Cary, NC, USA ·

Job type:
Seasonal

Every year, more than 7,000 kids leave Schoolhouse of Wonder dirty, tired, and happy. We want that number to grow, and we’re hiring the person who’ll help make it happen. This is a chance to be the go-to person for communications at an award-winning nonprofit that has served Triangle kids and families since 1989. You’ll report directly to our CEO, and your work will show up quickly in registrations and donor gifts. The role is new and could grow into a manager position as the work delivers.

What you’ll take on

Enrollment marketing for our outdoor camps, field trips, and teen leadership programs

Email marketing in MailChimp: managing lists, segmenting audiences, and running targeted and retargeting campaigns

Donor communications: appeals, thank‑you notes, and impact stories

Recruiting campaigns for about 100 seasonal staff each year

Photos, video, and stories from our programs

Planning and promoting events

Who we’re looking for:
Someone with a few years in marketing, communications, or fundraising who’s ready to take on the full picture instead of one piece of it. You can write a camp email parents actually read and a thank‑you note donors remember. And you’re the kind of person we hope our campers grow up to be: kind, curious, and confident.

We’re a small team, so no two weeks look the same. One day you’re writing a donor appeal, the next you’re launching camp registration or planning an event, and the work keeps moving all year. If that kind of variety sounds fun, you’ll fit right in.

The details:
Based in the Triangle with a lot of time working from home, you will also spend some time at our program sites and events in Durham, Wake, and Orange Counties, including occasional evenings and weekends.

The benefits:

Schoolhouse of Wonder contributes 80% toward the cost of employee only health insurance and 50% toward employee only vision and dental coverage.

Schoolhouse of Wonder does not contribute toward the cost of dependent medical coverage.

Qualified women, minorities, and bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are encouraged to apply. We are fully invested in creating a supportive environment for all marginalized groups including women, people of color, and LGBT+ people by promoting community collaboration within our organization.

Schoolhouse of Wonder is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, age, sex, disability, national or ethnic origin, or sexual orientation.
