About the Opportunity
We are seeking a seasoned
Account Director, Email / CRM
to support a large-scale, high-volume CRM and email marketing program for a leading consumer technology brand.
This is a unique hybrid role that sits between
senior account management and CRM campaign activation . You will work closely with the client while also serving as a key connection to the agency's creative and delivery teams.
The ideal candidate is an experienced client leader who understands sophisticated CRM and email marketing programs but does not need to be the person physically building campaigns inside an email platform.
You will help manage the campaign roadmap, develop and guide campaign briefs, keep stakeholders aligned, oversee work through the activation process, and ensure the agency team has the clarity and direction required to execute effectively.
Above all, this role requires an experienced
client manager
who can confidently work with senior stakeholders, navigate a demanding and fast-moving environment, and bring clarity to complex CRM programs.
What You'll Do
Serve as a senior day-to-day partner to client CRM and marketing stakeholders.
Manage relationships with senior client leaders and confidently communicate campaign status, priorities, risks, dependencies, and next steps.
Help manage and maintain a high-volume CRM/email campaign roadmap.
Translate planned CRM initiatives into clear, actionable creative briefs.
Lead campaign briefings and kickoffs with agency creative and delivery teams.
Represent the client's needs and perspective throughout campaign development and activation.
Coordinate across client project management, CRM, analytics, email operations, product, creative, development, legal, and other cross-functional partners.
Keep stakeholders organized and ensure decisions, inputs, approvals, and dependencies continue moving forward.
Oversee highly personalized and segmented email campaigns with multiple audience and behavioral versions.
Understand how dynamic content, audience segmentation, personalization, and email service providers come together within sophisticated CRM programs.
Maintain visibility into work-in-progress and provide senior stakeholders with clear updates on where campaigns stand.
Review campaign performance and partner with CRM stakeholders to identify optimization opportunities.
Proactively identify risks and roadblocks and help teams determine practical paths forward.
Quickly develop a strong understanding of the client's products, customer journeys, CRM ecosystem, and seasonal priorities.
Act as a trusted liaison between the client and agency teams throughout campaign execution.
What You'll Bring
Significant experience in
agency account management, client services, CRM, email marketing, lifecycle marketing, or integrated marketing .
Experience operating at an
Account Director, Senior Account Manager, Group Account Supervisor, Client Services Director, or comparable level .
Deep understanding of CRM and email marketing, including the lifecycle of a campaign from brief through creative development, activation, deployment, reporting, and optimization.
Experience supporting sophisticated, high-volume email or lifecycle marketing programs.
Strong knowledge of audience segmentation, personalization, dynamic content, behavioral targeting, and campaign versioning.
Experience working with email service providers such as
Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Campaign, Responsys, or similar platforms .
Braze experience is valuable but not required
for someone with strong experience across comparable CRM/email platforms.
Familiarity with
Movable Ink
or similar personalization technology is a plus.
Exceptional client-management and relationship-building skills.
Confidence communicating directly with senior and VP-level stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to navigate demanding clients, competing priorities, and challenging conversations with professionalism and composure.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage numerous moving pieces simultaneously.
Ability to understand technical CRM concepts without needing to personally configure or build campaigns within the platform.
A proactive and highly responsive working style.
Ability to ramp quickly, ask thoughtful questions, participate actively in meetings, and take ownership without requiring significant handholding.
Agency experience is strongly preferred.
What We're Really Looking For
This position is
not
intended for a hands-on marketing automation specialist whose primary responsibility is configuring campaigns inside Braze or another ESP.
Instead, we're looking for an experienced
Account Director and client leader who deeply understands CRM and email marketing .
You should understand how sophisticated email programs work—segmentation, personalization, campaign requirements, creative development, deployment, reporting, and optimization—while being strongest at leading stakeholders and ensuring the right teams are aligned around execution.
The successful candidate will be comfortable sitting across from a senior client stakeholder and answering questions such as:
Where does this campaign stand?
Are we on track?
What's blocking us?
What decisions need to be made?
What does the creative team need?
Are there risks we should address?
What needs to happen next?
The Environment
This is a large-scale CRM program with significant campaign volume and complexity.
Millions of customers may receive multiple communications each week, with individual campaigns containing numerous audience segments, personalized content, and behavioral variations.
The person stepping into this role will need to quickly understand an established campaign ecosystem, maintain visibility across multiple concurrent initiatives, and help keep both client and agency stakeholders aligned.
The client has high expectations, so this role is best suited for someone who has experience managing
complex and demanding client relationships
and knows how to maintain composure, responsiveness, and strong client service in a fast-moving environment.
Freelance / W-2 contract engagement with benefits through approximately

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced agency account leader who understands sophisticated CRM and email marketing and enjoys being deeply embedded with both client and creative teams.
