## Seeking Documentary Film Editor for Paid Edit TestSueno de GaiaPosted about 12 hours agoSave this Listing---FreelanceNew York CityNew York$500Seeking a dynamic, creative documentary editor with strong storytelling instincts for a debut personal documentary. I’m looking for someone who can assess the footage we currently have with fresh eyes, ultimately acting as a sounding board to help shape the story at this early phase of production.Technical abilities aside, I want to find an editor I like and trust who can help bring the essence of the film forward. There are a few different narrative arcs and themes, and I need to get more clear on what’s coming through with our current footage so I can best plan for future shoots. The editor should have previous experience editing documentary and have a sincere interest in the subject matter. The editor needs to be in New York so that I can easily get the drives to them.---------- About the Film: Working Title: Best Sister Logline: After years away, a filmmaker returns home to ask her younger sister with Down syndrome what she wants out of life—and confronts what it will take to help her build it. Intended Film Length: 30 minutes (to full feature, if time/funding/story allows)Film Overview: Meghan (34) is a freelance travel writer living in Brooklyn. Her younger sister, Kaitlin (29) has Down syndrome and lives at home in Kissimmee, Florida with their aging parents. Their lives began to diverge in adulthood, and the gap widened sharply post-COVID. While Meghan was traveling the world and building relationships, Kaitlin aged out of the Florida public school system, lost her daily structure, and gradually withdrew into a smaller and smaller life.Best Sister follows Meghan as she returns home to ask Kaitlin a question she suspects no one has ever asked her: What do you want out of life? What starts as an attempt to enrich her sister’s adult life becomes something more complicated—an excavation of family, obligation, and what we owe one another when systems fail and guilt fills the gap.Shot in intimate verité style, the film takes place squarely in the grey area that most Down syndrome narratives avoid. Kaitlin is not a symbol or a lesson—she’s a specific, funny, strong-willed person with her own desires. This is her story.---------- Scope of Work: I’m hoping to find someone I can work with for the duration of the film. As a first step, I’m looking to hire one person for a paid edit test.Scope: I'll provide you with 3-4 hours of raw footage., as this is centered around storytelling ability.Deliverable: One-two fully fleshed, thematic scene(s), 7-10 minutes total, with a temp color grade and sound passTimeline: Once footage is delivered, you’ll have two weeks to edit the scene and send it back to me. We’d then have a call so I can hear more about your thought process and creative choices.Rate for paid edit test: $500 flat fee### About UsI'm Meghan, a freelance travel journalist and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY.Because this is a film involving my family in which I, the director, am in, I need an editor who can double as a creative partner.### How to ApplyLorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.**Name**Name Hidden**Email**hidden-email@example.comJoin Listings Project for free orsign in to contact this lister.
