Overview
The NASA Life Sciences Portal (NLSP) is a deployed system and established gateway for discovering and accessing archive data from investigations sponsored by NASA’s Human Research Program (HRP). HRP’s mission is to conduct research and develop technologies to help ensure humans can travel safely and productively in space. NLSP supports HRP and other programs using evidence collected from astronauts, animals, and plants over many decades. That data is stored across key repositories accessible through NLSP, including the Life Sciences Data Archive (LSDA), the Lifetime Surveillance of Astronaut Health (LSAH), and Standard Measures (SM).
The UI/UX engineer will support the analysis, documentation, and delivery of user-centered software solutions for NLSP. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, development teams, and leadership to ensure user requirements are clearly defined, documented, and delivered within an Agile environment. The role emphasizes UI/UX design research, rapid prototyping, and end-to-end quality assurance to improve user workflows across scientific and archival applications.
Required Qualifications

Advanced proficiency with UI/UX prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Axure RP) and standard project collaboration suites (Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office).
Hands-on experience developing test plans, writing test cases, executing functional tests, and managing bug lifecycles in Jira.
Demonstrated ability to recruit research participants, conduct user interviews, and explain complex technical and design concepts to multidisciplinary teams.
