The Communications Associate Position
The Communications Associate reports to the Founder & CEO while providing essential support to Communications Managers and account leads ensuring the delivery of top-notch public relations services to the Firm's clients. This early-career position offers an opportunity to build a strong foundation in crisis communications, public relations, and issue advocacy while learning directly from senior PR professionals at a high-growth firm.

The Communications Associate drafts and proofreads public relations materials, including press releases, media advisories, talking points, and social media content. The role monitors media coverage, produces daily media clips, conducts research, maintains media lists, coordinates event logistics, and updates project plans. Working closely with account teams, the Communications Associate is accountable for accurate, timely, and well-organized work that keeps client campaigns on schedule.

Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities

A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, business, or a related field is required

1-2 years of professional communications experience, including relevant internships, is required

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

Clear and effective written and oral communication

Ability to multitask and prioritize work with competing deadlines

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Interest in news, current events, and Michigan's public affairs landscape

Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and major social media platforms

Previous experience at a public relations or communications firm preferred

Compensation, Benefits and Structure
The Communications Associate position offers a competitive salary based on skills and experience and a well-rounded benefits package, including health insurance and paid time off. This is a full-time, permanent, hybrid position; in-office presence in the downtown Detroit, MI office is required a minimum of three days per week.
