Resort Signage Graphic Designer - Year Round - Full Time

Graphic DesignerThe Steamboat Brand Shop is looking for a Graphic Designer! An ideal candidate is someone who likes to have fun, has a passion for the outdoors, is a self-starter, demonstrates great attention to detail, and has a strong knowledge of sign making and design using Adobe Creative Suite. You will be tasked with creating compelling content by getting to know the Steamboat brand, audience, and marketing strategy. You will take design projects from concept to completion. This includes getting out on the slopes to install signs while still occasionally copy writing. The ability to work under minimal supervision while problem solving for multiple businesses, seasons, and problems is a must. An Ideal candidate for this role will be able to maintain their creativity, tackle a wide variety of projects, all while strengthening the Steamboat brand.Resume and portfolio required with application.ESSENTIAL DUTIESCreate captivating and impactful designs for a wide variety of projects that align with the Steamboat BrandUtilize Adobe Suite Tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc) focusing on signage, branding, and large-format graphicsAbility to manage the nature and scope of projects constantly changing and evolvingOperate and maintain vinyl cutting plotter and wide-format printerAssist with the manufacture and installation of signage, graphics, banners, etc.Responsible for transport of raw materials and installation of completed projects to requestor's satisfactionKeep the production area neat, clean, and organizedAttend and participate in team meetings, partner consultations, and project managementCompliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirementsOther duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS4+ years of previous work history/education requiredMust be able to ski/snowboard at an intermediate levelMust possess a strong understanding of design principles, typography, and color theoryAdvanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Tools is required (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc)Strong attention to detail requiredProven ability in effective layout and design is required (portfolio review)Proven design skills in the use of color, fonts and design elements to create aesthetically pleasing and effective sign layouts while keeping on brand with SSRCPossess skills to utilize brand shop resources effectively and efficiently, both independently and in conjunction with other brand shop personnelThe ability to work without supervision or direction for extended periods. Attention to detail and a steady hand to perform delicate positioning tasksMust have a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the insurance carrier, requiredCommunicate clearly in English, both verbal and writtenInteract and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company's Service Excellence standardsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSFamiliarity with, and a high level of competence in the use of various sign making hardware and software, including, but not necessarily limited to vinyl cutters, wide format printers, and application tablesFamiliarity with sign making, vinyl cutting and installation, and woodworking experienceEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelor of Science, or Arts in Graphic Design, Marketing, or Communications, with 4 years of graphic experience, required. 10 years of trade experience will also be considered.Steamboat Resort hourly pay range: $23.00 - $30.00 per hourPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be a minimum 18 years of ageAbility to ski or snowboard at an advanced level with a backpack while carrying equipmentAbility to operate a variety of power tools and hand tools in a safe and proper mannerAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basisAbility to operate snowmobiles and motor vehiclesAbility to both sit and/or stand for extended periods of timeMust be able to use a ruler and/or tape measure and ability to recognize colorMust be steady to perform delicate positioning tasksAbility to speak and understand EnglishMust meet SSRC minimum driving standards, have current Driver's license, and a successful motor vehicle record.
