About the Role
Shutter Zone Media is expanding into the Janesville market, and we're looking for a professional Real Estate Photographer / Media Specialist to become a key part of our growing team.This is a great opportunity for an experienced photographer, videographer, real estate photographer, architectural photographer, or visual media professional who enjoys working independently, meeting clients, traveling to properties, and creating high-quality visual content.
Real estate experience is a strong plus, but professional photography, videography, architectural, commercial, or event media experience is also welcome.
Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with someone who can become a primary media specialist in the Janesville area, rather than simply providing occasional freelance assignments.
What You'll DoPhotograph residential and commercial propertiesCapture professional interior and exterior photographyFollow standardized real estate photography shot lists and company standardsCreate property videos and walkthroughsCapture drone photography/video when qualifiedComplete floor plans, Matterport/3D tours, twilight photography, and specialty services as trainedCommunicate professionally with real estate agents and homeownersUpload and deliver media according to company standardsMaintain professional equipment and ensure quality and accuracy on every assignmentRepresent Shutter Zone Media professionally at every appointment
Schedule & LocationPrimary Market: Janesville, WI and surrounding areas.
Hiring Radius: Approximately 15-20 miles Janesville.Approximately 20-30 hours of availability per weekPrimarily Monday-FridayDaytime availability, generally 9 AM through duskOccasional weekend assignments may be availableReliable transportation requiredMust be comfortable driving between propertiesSchedule and assignment volume can fluctuate based on weather, season, market demand, and client needs
Important: This is a project-based contractor position, so weekly assignment volume is not guaranteed. Candidates must have meaningful weekday daytime availability.
Compensation1099 Contractor | Project-Based CompensationPaid onboarding and training are provided.During the initial 90-day period:Photos Only: $36-$45 per assignmentPhotos + Drone: $70-$92 per assignmentPhotos + Drone + Video: $106-$132 per assignmentPhotos + 3D + Drone: $157-$169 per assignment
Standard real estate photography assignments typically pay approximately $35-$75+ per project, depending on property size, services, and experience.
Additional earning opportunities include:Drone photography and videoProperty videoMatterport / 3D toursFloor plansTwilight photographyCommercial projectsSpecialty media services
High-performing contractors who can provide multiple services can earn $200+ on qualifying appointments.Mileage reimbursement may be available for assignments outside the standard service area.
Equipment RequirementsThis is a contractor position. Equipment is not provided.Candidates should have:Professional interchangeable-lens cameraWide-angle lens suitable for interior photographyTripodComputer capable of managing and uploading large media filesReliable internetSpare batteries and memory cards
Lighting, flash, gimbal/stabilization equipment, and professional video equipment are strongly preferred.FAA Part 107 certification is strongly preferred. Candidates without certification must be willing to obtain it if they want to perform paid drone assignments.
