Videographer & Production Engineer

Chicago, IL | Full-Time | In-Person

$60,000-$72,000 depending on experience

About the Role

Chicago Podcast Studio is looking for a full-time Videographer & Production Engineer to join our team.

This is a hands-on video production role. Most of your time will be spent running podcast and video sessions, working directly with clients, managing cameras, lighting and audio, and making sure each production runs smoothly from start to finish.

We’re looking for someone who is technically confident, detail-oriented, good with people and comfortable working independently to serve a wide variety of clients.

This is a video-focused role, so audio-only production experience will not be a fit.

About Chicago Podcast Studio

Chicago Podcast Studio has been producing podcasts and studio-based content in Chicago for more than five years.

We’re a small, tight-knit team producing more than 1,200 podcast sessions each year, along with a growing amount of other video and studio-based work.

Our clients range from large companies and established brands to small businesses, independent creators and individual podcasters. We’ve grown into one of Chicago’s leading podcast production companies by keeping the experience professional, easy and consistent for our clients.

What You’ll Do
  • Run podcast and video sessions across our Chicago studios
  • Operate cameras, lighting, audio and switching equipment
  • Welcome clients and make sure they have a great experience in the studio
  • Offer helpful production advice around framing, microphone technique, set choice and overall presentation
  • Organize and transfer footage internally and externally
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and keep sessions moving smoothly
  • Reset and maintain studio spaces and equipment between sessions
  • Work on off-site podcast and video shoots throughout Chicago
  • Help transport, set up and manage gear for larger productions

Over time, we want this person to grow into someone we can confidently send to an off-site production and trust to handle the technical, creative and client-facing side of the shoot.

Experience We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who already has a few years of experience in video production.

You must already be comfortable with:

  • Operating professional cameras and lenses
  • Professional lighting equipment and lighting techniques
  • Microphones, audio mixers and signal chains
  • Multi-camera production and live switching
  • Strong client-facing and hospitality skills
  • Working independently
  • General production gear and troubleshooting
  • Basic video editing

Previous experience as a videographer, studio engineer, video producer, production specialist, camera operator or freelancer could all be a good fit.

Editing experience is helpful, but this is not primarily an editing position.

A college degree is not required. We care much more about your actual production experience and the work you’ve done. Hospitality experience is also highly preferred, as this is a customer-facing role.

Schedule & Benefits

This is a full-time, in-person position in Chicago.

The schedule will primarily be Monday through Friday, but production schedules vary. Start and end times may shift depending on bookings, and occasional weekend work will be required.

Reliable transportation to and from the studio is required.

Benefits include:

  • $60,000-$72,000 salary depending on experience
  • Paid time off
  • 401(k) eligibility after 6 months
  • Access to studio spaces for personal projects when available
Applying

Please include a résumé and examples of your production work. A portfolio, reel, website or individual project links are all welcome.

If a project involved a larger team, tell us what you personally handled.

If you’ve made it this far and the role genuinely resonates with you, we also encourage you to connect with us in more ways than one so your application doesn’t get lost in the crowd. Send a short note introducing yourself, tell us why this particular role stood out to you and why you think you’d be a great fit.
