The role
The Lead Copywriter is a senior individual-contributor role reporting to the Head of Creative. Its primary purpose is to define how Alloy sounds across every channel and to build the voice system that lets every team produce on-brand copy at scale. You would also write the highest-impact copy yourself. The role sits within a fast-paced, high-volume environment where the team ships and learns quickly.
What you would do
Define and document the brand voice and tone: principles, personality, humor, and the reasoning behind each choice.
Build and maintain a practical voice system (do's and don'ts, side-by-side rewrites, channel-specific tone shifts, real examples) and evolve it as the company grows.
Lead voice training and onboarding so everyone producing customer-facing copy understands how Alloy sounds and why.
Serve as final voice reviewer on high-stakes work and as the internal language expert keeping copy consistent, accurate, and compliant.
Write and edit high-impact copy across campaign concepts, landing pages, video scripts, product names, subject lines, and push notifications.
Partner with the Head of Creative to concept and execute integrated campaigns across performance, brand, and social channels.
Support creative positioning for new product launches and service expansions, from naming through go-to-market copy.
Collaborate with designers, video editors, Growth Marketing, and CX teams to define testing roadmaps, write macros, and align on voice.
Manage, brief, review, and coach freelance copywriters and contractors on the voice system.
Elevate junior writers through review, coaching, and clear standards.
Write copy variants, inform testing roadmaps, and apply conversion principles to everything you ship.
Use AI and emerging tools to maintain craft at high volume.
What they are looking for
7+ years of professional copywriting experience across brand and performance, at an agency or in-house team.
Proven impact in a high-growth direct-to-consumer brand.
Demonstrated experience building or meaningfully evolving a brand voice system, with artifacts such as guidelines, voice decks, and training materials.
An outstanding portfolio showing range: integrated campaigns, performance work, product and brand launches, and tone-driven brand writing.
Ability to distill complex health information into copy that is honest, accessible, and accurate, and comfort partnering with medical and regulatory reviewers.
Experience mentoring or editing other writers, even without formal direct reports.
Fluency with creative ops and project management tools (e. g. Asana).
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Advertising, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Women's health, healthcare, or direct-to-consumer wellness experience is strongly preferred.
Experience writing in a regulated category alongside medical, clinical, or legal reviewers is a plus.
