Job Title: Creative Director of Media and Production
Job Description
First Calvary Baptist Church is seeking a passionate, innovative, and skilled individual to serve as our Creative Director of Media & Production. At First Calvary, we see media, communication, and technology as a digital mission field, providing opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, enhance worship, and connect with our congregation and community. We are looking for someone who can lead our media ministry with excellence, creativity, and vision while honoring the rich traditions of the Black Church and embracing contemporary approaches to worship and communication.
The Creative Director of Media & Production will oversee the church's media ministries, including audio, video, livestreaming, worship presentation, digital communications, and media production. This individual will lead, train, and develop volunteers while ensuring high-quality production for worship services, Bible studies, and special events.
We recognize that media encompasses several specialized disciplines and do not expect candidates to be experts in every area. Rather, we seek someone with demonstrated strengths in one or more areas of media production who possesses the leadership, technical understanding, and collaborative skills necessary to oversee and develop a comprehensive media ministry.
More importantly, this individual will help communicate why the ministry work we do at First Calvary matters to our congregation, community, and city.
Duties & Tasks
Oversee and coordinate all media and production operations for worship services, Bible studies, special events, and other church activities, including audio, video, lighting, livestreaming, and worship presentation.
Ensure excellence in the technical execution of worship services, including sound quality, camera operation, video presentation, and online broadcasts.
Recruit, train, schedule, lead, and develop volunteers serving in audio, video, livestreaming, social media, photography, and other media ministries.
Develop innovative and compelling content that engages both church members and individuals beyond the congregation.
Oversee and coordinate the creation of digital content, including promotional videos, sermon clips, graphics, photography, and social media materials, utilizing volunteers and external professionals as needed.
Develop and implement a media and digital communications strategy that supports the church's mission, vision, and continued growth.
Collaborate with ministry leaders and church staff to provide media, technical production, and digital communications support for church programs and activities.
Oversee the church's digital presence, including livestreaming platforms, social media, and website content, to strengthen outreach, engagement, and accessibility.
Manage, maintain, inventory, and recommend purchases of equipment for audio, video, livestreaming, and media production.
Troubleshoot technical challenges and establish production procedures to ensure consistent and reliable media operations.
Develop policies, procedures, and training opportunities that strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of the media ministry.
Manage assigned media budgets and ensure responsible stewardship of church resources.
Attend designated staff meetings, worship services, and church events as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Production, Audio Engineering, Digital Media, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: audio engineering, video production, livestreaming, media technology, digital communications, or related disciplines.
Working knowledge of audio, video, or livestream production equipment, with the ability and willingness to learn additional technical systems.
Experience with ProPresenter or similar worship presentation software preferred.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar creative and production software preferred.
Experience with social media management, videography, photography, graphic design, or digital content development preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to audio, video, lighting, and livestreaming systems.
Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to train and coordinate volunteers.
Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers while managing multiple responsibilities.
Commitment to the mission and values of First Calvary Baptist Church and a passion for using media and technology to advance Christian ministry.
We encourage applicants with strong experience in specific areas of media production to apply, even if they do not possess every technical or creative skill listed above.
Primarily office and church production environments, with opportunities for remote work (hybrid) on days without required worship services, meetings, or church events. Sunday availability and occasional evening and weekend work are required.
Physical Requirements
Regular sitting, standing, walking, stair climbing, typing, telephone communication, speaking, hearing, and visual monitoring of production equipment. Occasional lifting of equipment up to 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodations as applicable.
