Job Description
About Powerus
\nPowerus is building a next-generation American autonomous systems platform designed to move, protect, and sustain critical assets in high-consequence environments. The company combines advanced autonomy, manufacturing capability, operational expertise, and strategic acquisitions to support defense, national security, critical infrastructure, and commercial operations globally.
\nMission
\nOur mission is to deliver resilient autonomous technologies that strengthen national security, improve operational safety, and expand the capabilities of organizations operating in complex environments.
\nWhy Join Powerus
\nPowerus controllers and aircraft must maintain a reliable link at range, in congested spectrum, and in the presence of interference, on frequencies authorized for each customer and country of operation.
\nThis role owns the radio system as a whole: link requirements, architecture, frequency plan, and verification, and coordinates the RF, antenna, firmware, and FPGA engineers who build it.
\nPosition Overview
\nPowerus is seeking a Radio Systems Engineer to define the architecture, requirements, and verification of the radio links between Powerus controllers and aircraft.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Define link requirements for range, throughput, latency, and interference tolerance \n
- Develop link budgets and select frequency bands, waveforms, and radio architecture \n
- Allocate requirements to RF hardware, antennas, firmware, and FPGA \n
- Plan and analyze range and interference testing on the bench and in flight \n
- Manage spectrum authorization and regulatory compliance with FCC, NTIA, and customer frequency managers \n
- Maintain the radio interface and configuration documentation \n
Qualifications
\n- \n
- Must be located in the United States, within commuting distance of Rock Hill, SC \n
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience \n
- Professional experience in radio or datalink systems engineering \n
- Experience developing link budgets and propagation analysis \n
- Working knowledge of modulation, coding, and spread-spectrum techniques \n
- Experience planning and analyzing over-the-air testing \n
- U.S. Person status required (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)); this role involves access to ITAR- and EAR-controlled technical data \n
Preferred Qualifications
\n- \n
- Experience with UAS command and control or video datalinks \n
- Experience with spectrum management and DD Form 1494 \n
- Experience with MATLAB link and channel modeling \n
- Experience operating in contested or congested spectrum \n
- Active or prior U.S. security clearance \n
What We Look For
\nCandidates should have defined requirements for a radio link that was built and tested and be able to describe how measured range compared with the link budget.
\nEqual Opportunity Statement
\nPowerus is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and mission-driven workforce. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
