Each summer

MSIP

produces a ten-and-a-half-week tour of 77 performances to approximately 30,000 people from across five states and two 10-week tours of 120 performances to both high schools and elementary schools every fall and spring. In addition to its extensive touring programming,

MSIP

also produces a winter show as part of its

Black Box Series , designed to bring local community talent together with regional professionals to engage the Gallatin Valley with live professional theatre.

MSIP

is the only professional theatre program in the state currently touring Shakespeare’s plays, the only company in America that tours as extensively into rural areas, the only company in the region that offers its performances

free

to the public ensuring that all are able to attend, and the only theatre company offering these types of programs to Montana and Wyoming area schools. For the majority of the communities who participate, especially those in under-served & rural areas,

MSIP

is their only form of live, professional theatre. Over the past 49 years, this remarkable touring company has presented over 2,500 performances to over three quarters of a million people.Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn conjunction with the Executive Artistic Director ( EAD ) the Associate Artistic Director ( AAD ) will represent

MSIP

within the 501c(3) Friends of Montana Shakespeare in the Parks organization, act as a public face for

MSIP , assist with programmatic functions, and support additional fundraising efforts and administrative oversight.

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:Represent outreach efforts and artistic programming internally and externally as a consistent public face for artists, donors, community members, and Montana State University.Contribute to MSIP’s mission of becoming a fully anti-racist, multi-cultural organization.Coordinate with the

EAD

and Director of Access and Engagement to facilitate and grow MSIP’s educational programs and community outreach efforts.Working with the Production Manager (PM) in maintaining and overseeing production budgets.Artistically (Design, Perform, Direct, Coach) engage in at least one major project per year.In collaboration with the

EAD , oversee administrative work plans and budgets.Play an active role in securing funding, to include contributing to fundraising applications and maintaining relationships with key funders. Inspire new funders through the expression and delivery of MSIP’s artistic vision.Research and analyze data to create content designed to support fundraising efforts.In conjunction with the

EAD , develops strategic plans for programming, fundraising, communications and operations.Coordinate with the

EAD

and Director of Access and Engagement to develop and implement marketing and audience development plans.In collaboration with the

MSIP

team, oversee the effective implementation of donor and community events.Oversee MSIP’s artistic and administrative apprenticeship program.Support company management efforts, providing excellent customer service to visiting artists’ through building a positive and collaborative community experience.Develop and maintain the highest level of communication with all

MSIP

constituencies, the

EAD

and staff.Serve on Board committees related to the administration of

MSIP .Ensure that

MSIP

provides a welcoming, inclusive environment for all staff, volunteers, and patrons.Additional duties as assigned by the Executive Artistic Director.Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre or professional equivalent.Extensive theatrical experience in any discipline, demonstrating strong connections within the industry.At least three years of experience in managing, motivating and inspiring artistic teams to accomplish common goals.Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office and Database software.Experience in balancing the needs of multiple constituencies and organizational priorities.Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills – listening, speaking, and writing.Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

MFA

in a cultural art discipline.Experience in managing fundraising efforts – grant writing, solicitations, event planning, donor relations.Experience with managing organizational budgets.Public relation or marketing experience.Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems.Track record of effective supervision and mentorship of administrative staff.The Successful Candidate Will

EAD

and staff.Have an understanding of and experience with achieving unearned and earned income goals while raising organizational awareness through cultivating media and community relations.Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and to prioritize competing demands and priorities.Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
