Job Description Summary:
The first-year writing program is seeking to hire an Adjunct Instructor in our new Composition, Communication, and Rhetoric division for Fall and Spring 2022-2023.
We are seeking to hire instructors for primarily first-year writing and communication courses but may have staffing needs for other lower and upper division courses. We seek instructors who are adept in student-centered teaching methods, equity-based approaches to pedagogy, and experience with digital teaching technologies. Those familiar with supplemental instruction, ELL, and writing center praxis are also encouraged to apply.
Duties and Specifications:
Teaching will either be on a MWF or T/TH schedule, and hybrid options may be available based on experience and need. Course schedules may include up to 3 courses per semester.
Courses are capped at 20 for first-year classes but may have up to 23 students per course.
Instructors will be given access to and asked to use the Canvas learning management system and the Office365 suite of communication programs.

Qualifications
MA or PhD in Composition and Rhetoric, Writing Studies, Technical and Professional Communication, and/or Communication and Media Studies degree holders are preferred. May consider Literature, Interdisciplinary or MFA degree holding candidates who have demonstrated success in teaching writing and communication. MA/PhD or ABD will all be considered.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience teaching in fully online and hybrid classroom environments and to applicants with teaching and scholarly experiences that align with the Methodist University commitment to fostering equity and inclusion in all of our university practices.
