mediaget is hiring: Senior Context Producer in Washington

AJ+ is looking for a Senior Producer to work with the Executive Producer to set the editorial/creative direction for productions and helps manage a team of producers to create highly shareable, cutting edge, long form, in-depth social videos. The role along with the team will focus on digital content that creates conversations on social networks, enhances the discussions and lends a perspective based on facts creating an impact with our global audience. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead a shift of multi skilled producers, animators, graphic artists and video editors.
• Help with coordination across digital teams to ensure that Planning, Engagement, and Audience Development departments are leveraging the original content being produced
• Contribute to editorial discussions that provide direction to various online video content streams.
• Conceive and develop ideas for graphic treatments of news items, strands and special coverage alongside the creative designer
• Produce as well as supervise all relevant scripts and productions.
• Decide upon and finalize production schedules and projects.
• Mentoring and staff development.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience working in online media
• At least 7 years’ experience in an editorial position
• Proven experience in video production or online Journalism
• Proven track record of success

SKILLS

• Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Excellent non-linear video editing
• Outstanding ability to write and copy edit all digital content
• Have a broad understanding of current global news trends and issues
• Excellent editorial judgment of global issues
• A passion and commitment to the Al Jazeera spirit of journalism
• Strong understanding of social media networks and online video consumption and audiences
• Contribute to editorial meetings
• Communicate relevant decisions to management and other departments when required
• Carry out duties in line with editorial guidelines and ethics of Al Jazeera
• Ensure AJ+ content is consistent with style guidelines
• Ability to do work under tight pressure and deadlines
