Job Description

The Digital Communications Specialist supports the communication functions of the brand engagement and marketing team for the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at ASU. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, creating and executing social media strategies, emails and creative story telling. The position entails cultivating content to maintain and enhance the strategic online presence of the Cronkite School, monitor and report social media and website analytics, contribute to university-wide digital communication efforts, and assist with miscellaneous needs related to the capture of audio/video/photographic content.

Salary Range

$42,000 - $50,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

Help develop and execute social media strategies.Find and create creative story opportunities.Maintain a social media calendar.Attend events to conduct real-time social mediapromotion.Research trends and innovations in digitalmarketing.Research and develop brand specific and strategiccontent for targeted distribution over the CronkiteSchool social media channels.Analyze social media and Web analytics, and helpsgenerate performance reports.Engage with marketing and communicationsrepresentatives across ASU academic and businessunits to source content.Contribute to the development and execution ofsocial media advertising strategies. Maintains andadheres to the Cronkite School voice and tone.Assist with capturing video/audio/photographiccontent as needed.Help facilitate transcription and storage of digital assets as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and two (2) years of related experience: OR, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Demonstrated experience in writing and editing online content.

Desired Qualifications

Evidence of effective communication skills.Experience in developing effective social media campaigns.Demonstrated knowledge of online platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.Demonstrated knowledge of social media platform analytics/insight tools.Demonstrated knowledge of Hootsuite.Demonstrated knowledge of digital marketing principles, practices, and procedures.Demonstrated knowledge of internet-based social networking formats, audiences, and usage standard.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of interactive media, tools, and technologies.Experience in writing and editing for interactive media.Experience in using web tools and assessment of outcomes.Experience in problem-solving and decision-making.Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.Experience in developing, producing, and managing website including occasional programming of site.Experience working effectively in an environment subject to stringent deadlines.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
