The University of Oklahoma Athletics department is looking for candidates that have a passion for both collegiate athletics and live broadcast production. Working under the Director of Broadcast Content and alongside the Director of Engineering, the Broadcast Director & Studio Tech will serve as the primary director for Oklahoma’s broadcast productions while also leading the technical management of equipment within the control room. This highly skilled broadcast professional will be responsible for ensuring Oklahoma’s broadcasts are on brand under the guidelines set forth by ESPN by mentoring and teaching SoonerVision’s diverse workforce.As the lead Director, the candidate will showcase an ability to efficiently direct cameras and crew in line with the Producer. The preferred candidate will have a reference list from a variety of producers and will have a track record of working with a variety of collegiate sports. The candidate will be expected to serve as the lead Director or Technical Director on the majority of broadcast productions, and other roles as needed, so nights and weekends are expected as the broadcast schedule dictates.As the lead studio tech, the ideal candidate will have an acumen for control room engineering, including but not limited to monitor walls, routing, encoding/decoding, signal testing, switchers, DANTE and spotbox. Leading by example and as required by ESPN, the candidate will serve as the lead TD and / or studio control room engineer.In addition, considering the educational goals of the University, the candidate will be expected to train & develop student workers in all aspects of the control room. The preferred candidate will also have a background working with student-led production crews, showcasing patience and investment in the learning environment. Regular individual and group training will be expected as well as the annual development of students in the roles. The candidate should expect to supervise and manage roles in the control room, serving as a resource to the students that are learning and developing broadcast skills. Roles include but are not limited to Director, TD, Audio and Graphics.

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Marketing, Journalism, or related field,

AND24 months of experience in creative media, sports production or related field.Equivalency/Substitution:

Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.Skills :Broadcast DirectingTechnical DirectingHighly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlinesDetail oriented for accuracy of data and informationAbility to communicate verbally and in writingAbility to build rapport with students, faculty, and staffAbility to produce reports and complete work within deadlinesStrong initiative to solve problems in a timely mannerAdvertised Physical Requirements:Must be able to stand, engage in repetitive motions, walk, communicate, hear, and see, including color, depth perception and clarity.Must be able to lift heavy objects over 50 pounds.Ability to engage in repetitive motion.Certifications:Valid Oklahoma Driver's License to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.Departmental Preferences:Experience: 50+ Events of Broadcast Productions
