Job Summary

This position supports the Mobilization Director in development, approval, and management of digital content programs on the national, regional, and state level. The incumbent is responsible for the successful execution of API’s grasstops and grassroots social media and ecomms program, which includes elevating API brand presence online, managing digital assets, and search engine optimization (SEO). As a new role, this position will have the opportunity to experiment and implement new methods of online engagement for API.


  • Expert in the social media space, evaluating trends, digital acquisition, education, and activation campaigns, and conversations
  • Collaborate and direct consultants to harness opportunities to highlight projects and create content
  • Create, implement, and manage digital content calendar, considering web traffic and engagement metrics
  • Develop appropriate reporting to keep organization leadership apprised of key metrics and performance data
  • Develop key creative and strategic recommendations based on reporting and available metrics
  • Plan and coordinate the distribution of all daily content
  • Recognize great hooks and mobilization moments that will move people to take action
  • Run digital campaigns to grow our social media audiences and turn them into online and offline activists
  • Serve as an expert on our digital asset management tools
  • Stay up to date with technologies and trends in social media, design tools, and applications
  • Understand front-end SEO best practices and keyword strategy and how SEO as it pertains to the API website and its social media channels
  • Manage Digital Media Strategist
  • Other projects as assigned

Key Relationships

  • This position reports to the External Mobilization Director.
  • They will use digital content as a tool to assist with the conceptualization, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of natural gas and oil policy at the state and federal level – including government relations, advocacy, and legislative activities, and they will contribute to the execution of the department’s legislative agenda.


  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in politics, grassroots, advocacy, and/or mobilization, with 2+ years or 1 election cycle of project management experience
  • Working knowledge of state and federal process
  • Strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt writing style
  • Experience in development, set-up, and execution of digital campaigns
  • Extensive knowledge of established and emerging social media platforms
  • Knowledge and experience with Google Analytics, Sprout, Canva preferred but not required
  • Understanding and experience utilizing social media management tools, third party web metrics services, and specific platform analytics tools.
  • Advanced experience directing the production of creative content, graphics, and illustrations
  • Strong understanding of social media trends and what motivates people to engage online
  • Ability to learn and implement new software programs
  • Proven time, deadline, and multiple project management skills

Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc. on occasion
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 10 lbs. on occasion

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%
