The Event Operations Director is responsible for all aspects of Bobit’s event operations and logistics. Responsibilities include supervision of a small group of direct reports (comprised of event managers, conference managers, and an assistant). This position works closely with the Marketing, Content, and the Sales Teams to organize and produce successful events. The director schedules and reviews the progress of exhibit activities and planning, monitors staff labor and expenses, and makes recommendations and reports for department’s senior team members. This position is responsible for tracking, managing, and reporting on exhibit expenses for all Bobit event budgets.

Job Pay Info:
- Salary of $3,125 to $4,375 per pay period ($75,000 to $105,000 if/when annualized)
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Direct show-related projects, including creation of pre-show specs, logistics and other planning for show floor theaters, on and off-floor meeting rooms, and other special demo and exhibit areas – new and existing
- Ensure exhibitors “after the sale” questions and concerns are appropriately addressed in a timely manner
- Operations lead for keystone Bobit events
- Oversee implementation of all show floor plans in exhibition management software and ensure compliance with industry standards as well as venue rules and regulations (including when necessary, ensuring fire marshal approval and strategic placements of all management elements on or related to the exhibit floor)
- Work with sales team to ensure floorplans are best positioned to take advantage of sales opportunities
- Work with sales team to ensure quick response to venue and operations/logistics-related exhibit and sponsor questions pre-sale
- With department colleagues, participate in the facility contract process
- When deemed necessary, conduct site visits of potential/confirmed meeting venues, identifying and resolving logistical or structural challenges
- Create and revise exhibit expense budgets, tracking expenditures and identifying possible cost-cutting opportunities
- Review invoices for all exhibit operations-related orders
- Ensure event co-sponsor logistical and operational exhibit needs are met, working closely with the meetings team
- Work with events team to ensure smooth logistics and operations for show floor and/or exhibitor events, areas and theaters
- Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution
- Provides inspiring leadership to staff and monitors time, activities and output of direct reports as appropriate
- Supervises direct report team, identifying and providing proper training and development
- Supports recruitment activities of regular staff members and assists in selection of event-related contractors, providing assistance as needed
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department
- Ensures departmental decisions and project plans are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision (staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities, etc.)
- Up to 25% travel in event busy season (varies during calendar year)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education, etc.
- 8+ years of relevant experience running event operations, including supervisor responsibilities
- Proven ability to manage operations for trade shows and conferences
- Expertise running registration systems, preferably Cvent
- Experience managing vendor relationships
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Able to deliver on continuous improvement requirements and execute necessary organizational and functional changes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in event management
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Works well cross-functionally with other departments
