A core member of the Communications team, the Manager, Executive Communications oversees strategic initiatives to ensure that the CR story and the full range of the organization’s work is captured in both internal and external executive communications with a focus on executing broad writing support for a variety of audiences, including donors, philanthropic institutions, partner organizations and media.

These strategies are grounded in CR’s goals, including engaging CR members, advancing policy protections for consumers, and mobilizing partners and allies to grow consumer power and hold corporations accountable to critical safety, privacy and health standards.

  • Draft executive thought leadership materials such as social media content, op-eds, white papers, speeches and board presentations.
  • Develop executive presentations in collaboration with CR leadership and colleagues on the Communications team.
  • Research opportunities to advance CR thought leadership.
  • Stay abreast of consumer and marketplace trends to identify opportunities to demonstrate CR’s commitment to creating a fairer, safer and more transparent marketplace for consumers.
  • Support at times CR representatives who speak on behalf of the organization at events or other industry venues.
  • Train, recruit and manage staff with a focus on creating an innovative, collaborative, and performance-driven culture as needed.
  • Collaborate with outside public relations firm(s).



  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • You have a minimum of four years of strategic communications experience.
  • You have strong project management skills.
  • You have at least two years of experience writing, including social media content, for an executive.
  • You have excellent writing and research skills.
  • Your past positions have included providing strategic communications counsel to cross functional partners and engaging with senior management.


  • You can collaborate well with others across a highly matrixed organization.
  • You have the ability to influence others through compelling communications.
  • You stay current on external news, trends and issues, utilizing knowledge of competitive landscape, marketplace trends, best practices and technology.
  • You have a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and actively seeking feedback.

  • You promote collaboration and inclusion and can leverage connections and communications interdependencies.
