At STR we are known for our large variety of trusted and global data points relating to primarily the hospitality industry, and at the heart of this lies both education and servicing both internal and external stakeholders with the right amount at the right time, and the ability to contextualise and visualise all available insights. In order to ensure we support and grow this function we are looking for a Research & Analysis Coordinator to join us in Singapore.

The Research Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that STR maintains its position as leading provider of market data to the hospitality industry and beyond. Using all available STR data resources, the job scope entails bringing data to life and ensuring that we produce the most relevant stories to all stakeholders. The role offers great exposure to and engagement with the industry leading STR data that affect people’s decisions every day, as part of a global team in research and analytics, dealing primarily on data for the APAC region.

Major tasks include completing data requests and driving and researching underlying key trends to use for client and marketing purposes, including creating structured, professional, and inventive presentations, responding to internal client inquiries but also proactively creating content from the data for further usage both internally and externally. It would also include assisting to bring some of the stories to life via social media channels, e.g. WeChat and LinkedIn.

The role offers a great opportunity to step into the STR data vault and draw out unique, highly anticipated and rewarding stories and clear understandable facts.


  • Proactively investigate market trends affecting performance and industry dynamics, undertaking primary and secondary research about the wider economic environment and what impacts their day-to-day performance, using both internal and external data sources.
  • Build and grow a personal in-depth understanding of the markets tracked and the key trends impacting the hospitality industry, and become a trusted input source for wider departments, including forecasting.
  • Analyse the market information and explain market trends and the driving factors. 
  • Provide a seamless service to internal clients as well as support to other colleagues using the STR and CoStar database.
  • Convert complex data and findings into understandable tables, graphs and reports
  • Keep your colleagues up to date on the wider market trends, so they can speak knowledgeably to existing and potential clients. You will brief and collaborate with management team for their presentations and media interviews.
  • Complete assigned To-do’s or projects in a timely manner
  • Stay knowledgeable of industry trends and current industry news that may affect the assigned region or company.
  • Understanding of how current events have an impact on assigned region or company.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with properties, clients, and other industry professionals regarding STR/CoStar’s policies and guidelines.
  • Stay knowledgeable and aware of updates or changes to any of STR/CoStar’s methodology, policies, or procedures.  


  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with a genuine interest and passion in global and APAC hospitality segment
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and visualise data. Research is required to explain the data. Whilst field research is not required, having good sources and contacts on the ground - or establishing them - to verify the data is important
  • A meticulous approach and care for ensuring quality is the best possible
  • Effective communicator both in person and via email and phone
  • Ability to work with many people in different departments and cultures, while managing your own time and prioritise projects and workflow
  • Be an effective listener and have an ability to receive, share and process information and be able to generate a high volume of grammatically-correct content with speed and accuracy
  • Good experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office products


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Research experience or hotel industry experience
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations at a high growth company
  • Experience of model creation as well as use of Tableau or other BI visualisation tools useful – and a general sense of good design is beneficial
  • To be driven by a passion to make sense of numbers and trends and never be afraid to question the status quo in how things are done
  • Proficiency in additional Asian languages beneficial, e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai or Indonesian
  • CHIA (Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics)
