Role Summary
This is an opportunity for a Lead for our CoxLAB which aims to create a product showcase for customers across out IoT, Private Networks, and Edge capabilities, while internally supporting vendor validation and internal testing efforts. You will help in planning, organizing, and leading the lab and coordinate with our senior team, strategy, business unit leads, R&D, marketing, and major account leads. In this role, you must be comfortable as the external and internal lead for this lab as well as delivering a best-in-class experience for all our stakeholders.
The New Growth & Development organization is focused on identifying and analyzing areas of future growth and plans to achieve sustained and balanced growth across the enterprise. The organization works to answer "whats next" for Cox and our customers. We develop growth hypotheses and test these hypotheses through:
1) skunkworks
2) investing in new businesses
3) traditional R&D
4) identifying strategic partnerships and
5) exploring emerging businesses
This role is responsible for the launch and ongoing success of the Lab. This position will require strong project management capabilities, presentation/executive presence skills, as well as a customer-focused view of solution combination and delivery. Successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of product management methodologies with experience building and designing complex products in a matrixed resource environment. This role will report to the Executive Director, New Growth and Development and will interface with and balance the needs of executive, business, functional, and New Growth & Development leadership.
Specifically, this role will:
  • Help develop or facilitate new solutions from Cox product base and partner / vendor capabilities
  • Lead all design activities for lab physical space as well as customer planning
  • Develop bespoke customer presentations incorporating relevant capabilities within the lab
  • Work with business unit leads and account leads to identify opportunities for lab exposure with customer-relevant solutions
  • Provide updates to leadership on lab progress and successes
  • Develop vendor validation and internal testing roadmaps with assistance from Technology, Product, and New Growth and Development teams
  • Research relevant energy and consumer technology trends, competitors, and market offerings
  • Facilitate the introduction, onboarding, and co-creation of products & solutions with partners / vendors within the lab
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Lead team of Lab Technologists in delivering on projects and partnerships from all lines of business, analyzing causes of technology trends, and representing technology capabilities in customer visits
  • Develop Lab Technologists to be technology experts for the Content team
  • Lead team members in vendor validation and technology-focused improvement projects
  • Proactively develop solutions and executes change to address opportunities in sales with cross-functional teams (including vendor partners)
  • Lead teams of Lab members in preparing, traveling to, setting up, and demonstrating capabilities at trade shows, client shows, or internal Cox events
  • Prepare for customer tours and demos by working with tour requesters to gather requirements and then leads the team in fulfilling those requests
  • Able to train team members in presentation skills and necessary knowledge to lead tours and demonstrate solution capabilities to clients
  • Organize and lead events to train lab members and Cox sales teams on new and upcoming hardware, software, or solutions
  • Develop multiple initiatives and spearhead projects to best support simultaneous departments and teams
  • Seek and attend ongoing training to improve service and learn new products and procedures
  • Provide ad-hoc facilitation, strategy sessions, and technology planning services for both Lab teams and external teams
  • Act as the subject matter expert for lab technology and staff capabilities

Qualifications:

Minimum

  • Up to 25% domestic travel (based on customer needs)
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years experience hands-on experience with innovation teams
  • 3+ years experience in the next generation technologies related to Edge, IoT, or private networks
  • 2+ years in a leadership role with direct reports preferred
Preferred
  • Experience building and managing lab environment
  • BS/BA degree in related discipline desired (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science.)
  • Experience managing and building products in an agile environment
  • Experience designing and improving the customer experience of products
