This job is Innovation, Technology, Strategic Planning, Corporate Development, and Partnerships all wrapped into one. As the New Growth Corporate Development Manager focused on our Internet of Things (IOT) portfolio, youll have a hand in shaping what "connectivity" means to people and the things they care about most - ultimately re-inventing and enriching the way people engage with the world around them. This includes everything from energy, healthcare, automotive, home, business and community. You will have the chance to explore highly complex problems, gain insight into strategic issues, and build relationships with industry leaders both inside and outside the organization. The ideal candidate thinks like an intrapreneur and is comfortable with investment, corporate development and building strategic partnerships.
What Youll Do
Curating relationships with CEOs, venture capital firms, and industry experts is more than just networking, this role will invite you to bring a myriad of skills to the table ... or coffee shop ... or desk.
This role will be responsible for supporting the Director of New Growth Corporate Development (IOT) in the following daily duties: 
  • Find interesting companies and projects: Build and continuously update a set of companies to meet and projects to follow based on qualitative and quantitative signals, market theses, and a network of key relationships  
  • Evaluate prospective partnerships and investments: Assist in diligence efforts for specific companies we are considering partnering with or investing in, or an entire category of startups we are evaluating  
  • Conduct due diligence, including financial assessments, analysis of go-to-market strategies, and competitive landscape 
  • Support business development function with external partners - targeting potential new business partnerships and alliances to work with Cox New Growth & Development teams on building adjacent growth opportunities.

Qualifications:

Who you are:

  • 3-4+ years related experience in business development, corporate development, investment banking or consulting/strategy disciplines or combination thereof  
  • "Do-er" that can help translate ideas into actionable content for the organization to react to.
  • Ability to learn new facts and concepts quickly and comprehensively, and to synthesize and communicate effectively
  • Ability to operate independently to navigate tight deadlines, juggle a long list of competing priorities, and operate in a dynamic environment without compromising attention to detail   
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Strong and demonstrable project/process management experience and large team facilitation skills   
  
Preferred:  
  
·         MBA or equivalent   
·         Experience in venture capital, private equity or high-tech  
·         Experience in start-up businesses and/or end-to-end new product development experience, with entrepreneurial spirit  
·         Proven ability to structure and negotiate complex business agreements addressing technology, operational, intellectual property, and policy matters  
·         Business  understanding and working knowledge of emerging technologies such as Internet of Things and standards is very beneficial
