Oxford University Press seeks an Assistant News Editor for the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, a leading scientific/medical journal located in Bethesda, Marland.

Responsibilities include working with the News Editor to generate story ideas and write news articles for the Journal's news section, writing weekly news summaries for the online version of the Journal, writing press releases for selected scientific articles in the Journal, and communicating with members of the media and press officers at academic, government, and private institutions.

Ideal candidates will have a degree in journalism, English, or a science and experience in medical and/or science writing. Excellent communication skills, the ability to meet frequent deadlines while maintaining attention to detail, and the ability to gather and interpret information on scientific and medical topics are essential.
